I've considered this image for a whopping several minutes...brace yourself...I don't think this image is very good. I get the concept of the subject. DOF is poor. Lighting is too harsh. Composition does nothing to represent the partnership of a hand and glove in an intriguing fashion. This particularly subject would need more environmental context to make it interesting. 3

Except now the ocean is too sharp ;) Maybe use a layer mask to sharpen the area you want sharpened. To be honest, if the focus/dof was better from the start you could have left it "soft" by not using USM. I happen to like the composition and his expression, but without something in focus it's hard for me to explore the photograph. I'm ultimately first drawn to the bottom left quadrant.

He was actually just contemplating why I was sitting in his car. We were waiting for his Dad, and the sun provided some great side lighting.
