Small leavesby judy_dalmerComment: The phrase which jumped into my head when I viewed this image was ' well, which bit am I supposed to be looking at?' - the depth of field and yous selction of a bud in the midground is confusing. Either more dof or selecting a more prominent focal point would help. |

Beginning of a beautiful relationshipby annttvldzComment: This would be a nice family snap. However in a photography challenge it is sadly lacking in technique. The lighting is very harsh (guessing onboard flash), the pose is 'startling', and the dribbles down the shirt don't help. Sorry to be so brutal. |

Spring Begins Againby tjandjwsmithComment: Depth of field really lets you down here. This needs to be 'sharp' for more than just the first millimeter or two. The border you have chosen only really shows itself against the yellow which makes it feel unbalanced. |

See_throughby atxcrisComment: Not exactly sure how this relates to 'beginning', but nice enough rendition of a theme used here many times before. |

In the beginning there was life.by lineyComment: Going for the 'ahhh' factor ;-)
This opportunity could have been exploited so much better, maybe 3 or 4 of these little gus lined up suckling from the bitch, in soft light maybe from a log fire ....
as it is we see a hand taking most of the frame, with acres of wasted space on the left. Harsh lighting doesn't help either.
I know that sounds brutal but with some more thought and application this had so much to offer and you wasted it. |

Good Ideaby Glen KingComment: Yes I can see the link with the theme of the challenge, but there is little else to commend this image. There is no added 'WOW', nothing to make voters give it more than an average score. Now if you had a young couple coming out holding hands and gazing at each other, or something to tell a story that would be a different thing. As it is, its flat and one dimensional. Sorry to be so brutal. |
