Profilesby JutildaComment: This is wonderful. I wish my black cat would be this comfy around my kids. He is old and sore and is always a bit on guard. These two here though look like long time friends so comfortabl in each others space. Great capture. |

Dorothy the Wizardby posthumousComment: I gave this a 7 in challenge. Thought it was a very creative capture. Would have given you a 9 if you hadnt cropped off her ankles. |

Higher Daddy!by JCDeanComment: Greetings from the Critique Club -
Can't ever complain when you get a new image in your top rated. I like shots like these ( I have several in my portfolio). While it may not have scored well (still better than you expected) you have a great shot of your boy.
I have no strong critique to give you on this image though. It is not a brilliant image nor does it suck. I personally find it pleasing just as is. Not necessarily what the DPC audience was looking for but hopefully that doesnt deter you from being your own photographer.

First let me welcome you to DPC. I hope you get as much enjoyment out of this place as I have.
This picture unfortunately doesnt grab me. I am not really sure what it is, not sure I want to know what it is. From looking at your notes I can see that you werent really that crazy about it either. One day you will look back at this and laugh (I have many pics that I look back at and wonder what I was thinking entering - way too many). But dont let this deter you. Keep on playing, keep on learning, keep on entering and find out who it is that you are as a photographer. It's a neverending journey. I hope you have fun with it.

Into the Lightby RulerZigzagComment: Greetings from the Critique Club -
I will start off with the fact that I gave this a 7 - which in a dismal challenge was one of my higher votes. I like the graininess, I like the varied levels of shadow going back. I may have punched it even darker making the front stone almost a true silhouette. It doesnt have anything really standing out to say "WOW" but I felt it stood out well in the challenge.
My biggest issue is the border. You have this dark gloomy image wrapped in a bright white border. I would have probably gone with a black border or no border at all. It is just an odd combo in my eyes.
I figured this would have placed higher. Whatcha gonna do.

Spark of deathby snafflesComment: Greetings from the Critique Club -
I wish I had yoru description available when voting on this image. It didnt grab me during vote - I was one of your 5s. I like how the sparks reflect off the teeth - but the concept in general didnt connect with me.
However - after reading your description I found a new appreciation for the image - a better understanding of what you were shooting for. It completes out the image much better for me now.
I know this doesnt affect your score nor does it offer any photographical commentary (not sur eif photographical is a word). But I am glad I pulled this image from the queue. I dont go back often enough to look at image safter challenge.
