You have an amazing talent for finding moments. And your editing style is truly the perfect compliment to them. I wish I could see and capture as you do. Very nice work indeed.

Greetings from the Critique Club -

So you actually post your images up to the CC club huh? Well - let's see how I do.

This actually kind of grabbed me in voting. I gave it a 6 which means I liked it, it didnt totally fail as an image in my eyes, but that it lacked the wow power for a higher score. Wow power for me is an image that makes me want to hang out on it longer. not necessarily typical eye candy, but somethign that grabs me. I found it pleasing in general, though hanging out here and looking at it more to comment on it it seems to lack a bit more. The longer I look at it the less power it has.

I do appreciate that you didnt clone out the "imperfections" on her hand. The little nicks or whatever they are. I wonder what it would have looked like if the background was black rather than white. The feeling of the image is similar to Yankos. Not a full blown sadness but maybe a slight despondency.

I dont know. When it comes to critiquing certain peoples work I know that odds are they are looking for ways to make the image better in a DPC kind of way. Ways to get them a better score. But in your case I have to assume thats not the case. So on that end I am really not sure what else to add, except keep on doing what you do.

Greetings from the Critique Club -

Glad this one came up in the queue for me. I really enjoyed this shot. Great clean detail, nice DOF, fun moment captured, b&w conversion is spot on. I expected this to score over 6 (you were close). Maybe the main issue for voters was that it was more of a candid than an image of a specific body part. Personally I think you met the challenge, but other voters can be stinkers. For me, I find it a great image. A keeper for sure.

Congrats on winning the brown ribbon. While I often like a good blurry pic this wasnt one of them. Just a bit of a mess overall. My only suggestion for making this better would be to start over from scratch. No amount of editing would save it. But if this is what you were shooting for who am I to critique. Just not my tastes.

I remember this shot in challenge. I gave it a 7 in voting. Easily meets the challenge and the overall score you recieved shows that the average voter found your image to be above average.

i like the processing. Good high key effect. I wish the eye was a bit more open and the lashes a bit more in focus, but in general the image is strong as is. The upper finger is a tad distracting - the lower finger detail on the tip is a plus.

Not a whole lot to add to this. You have a good image, a good score (I consider anythign over 6 to be good). The subject matter may not have the wow impact to garner a higher score and the creativity is not out of this world (if I remember correctly your image followed one with the same setup in my voting queue). good work overall though.

Greetings from the Critique Club -

Its been a while since I have done one of these so bear with me. ;)

First off - congrats on the upcoming addition!

I think this shot easily meets the challenge. Nice simple composition leaving no distracting elements to the shot works well. The lighting seems a bit harsh on her belly compared to the drop off shadows on the right side. I wish it was just in general a bit softer. Other than that the editing is clean and there really isnt a whole lot that comes to mind that is bad about the image. I see you scored a 6 which is a decent score. Overall it probably lacks the wow power needed to get the higher scores - but I am sure you with your DPC experience you are aware of that.

At the same time though, being someone who specializes in shooting his own family, I can feel pretty comfortable in saying that this shot is a family keeper. Whats cool about these challenges is that it allows us to document moments in our lives in ways that we probably would not have done without DPC. Work like this stands above any score that can ever be given to it.

Congrats again!
