I used to have some nice, big goldfish, I might try your technique.
That's an awful big splash for a small fish, I'd like to see a series with different colored and sizes of fish. Don't be selfish, maybe you can sell-fish framed prints.

That reminds me of a trip I was on in Budapest, Hungary in 2002.
In a supermarket a large, live fish jumped out of a tank onto the floor.
An employee shouted "suicidal fish", and quickly put it back in the tank. I didn't have a camera at that moment.

Thanks for the critiqueing comments, they were all true and very helpful. I will try to spend more time in perfecting the post processing and not do literally last 5-minute submissions.

The Challenge-Details seem to disapear, but I save each one.
Yes it did say subject(s), but to be 100 percent accurate, the word background shouls have been plural also.

"Take a picture of a colored subject or subjects on the same color background"

"Roses and Friends" in the 21st place also interpreted it in a similar fashion.

Congratulations, that's a great lighting technique to learn. My wife suggested to use our Gold-colored set of utensils. Nooo, I didn't listen to her and *hastely* did a humorous unique corkscrew.

If Humor isn't exceptional it seems its treated like an obnoxious child wanting attention. For excellent examples see top-winning advertising graphics.

IMHO, 95% of the credit goes to the model. She should get the Golden Globes award. I hope the E-glue came off. I wonder if vaseline or hair gell would get similar results. Maybe a more static, solid black background would've shown off the glitter.

Just as a suggestion for others, you may if you haven't already, experiment beforehand with a piece of fruit, using glue or other methods to get the best proposed lighting/backgrounds afterwards.

Regarding HotShot7's question below, "What's the name of the band"
It's not that out of focus, if you look closely, you will find at least 14 places that say "Good Charlotte". That may be a definite clue.

I would have included more of the ceiling and not the object in the bottom-left corner. With my luck I probably would have made it more blurry or too much contrast. If you didn't use a tripod, maybe that would help.

Tip: For very low angle shots use a home made sand-bag or bean-bag or bag of oats, instead of a tripod you could use a bag on a stepladder, pogo-stick (monopod), roof of you car, anything stationary. That allows for a greater variety of shots, varying exposure/aperture/lighting/DOF.

I just thought of the "sandbag" last tuesday shooting a sunset on rocky-pier.

First 500 Blue Ribbons

I would like to create a .html file using your "First 500 Blue Ribbons" and create an imagemap of hyperlinks to the photos shown. Would you be interested?

I would need just a 500 line text file with the image id numbers only
(Left-to-right, Top-to-bottom row-by-row).

I am willing to volunteer to do the rest, I use Adobe's and Macromedia to automate the task a little. Then there has to be a place to store it, possibly email the file to the webmaster of theis site.

I have done something similar with each piece being a puzzle-piece on my website for our Wedding-Album. We have done a company calendar two years ago with random images, duplicated to see an image of the company logo. to see the letters DPC superimposed, the program that does it would probably create duplicates of many of the thumbnails.
