Was this some sort of attempt to insult me? I haven't submitted anything here worth the time it took to take it. I know that. I've admitted that before. Why? Well, assigning an arbitrary number to photography, especially the stuff that's on this site, is ridiculous. I'm not about to spend two hours setting up some tacky photograph just so people can give me a 6 for "technical" when they've got no idea what they're talking about.
My point is, just because no on liked your picture doesn't make them kid haters. Maybe your picture isn't that good. Maybe in order to get better at photography you might want to recognize that its not the subject, its the style. It's not how much effort you put into it, its what you see.
Ok, for one, your background is crooked. Did you notice that? Two, you centered your subject. Three, the colors are muted, boring. There's no life to this picture. The kid doesn't give it life. The cat looks either drugged or just as bored with the picture as I am. The background is awful, also. Try a nice blank wall next time so the emphasis is on your subject, especially since this is a "portrait".
