1by markwileyComment: I have recently come to realize how difficult it is to get good close-up candid shots but you don't seem to have any trouble with that. This is a remarkable collection. To me, this is a study of women as they navigate public space. The close-up of the face makes it very personal. The still photograph gives me the luxury of taking my time looking at this personal moment. Many appear to have a vacant, absent look. It is probably my projection but I interpret the vacant look as an attempt to disappear, not be noticed or singled out. I believe it is safer for women alone out in the world to withdraw and disappear. I wonder if a similar essay on men would show a certain "presence" or "ready for trouble" look which I think would be the safer stance for most men. I may be making more out of your essay than intended (perhaps they are bored) but I have enjoyed your essay very much. |

Importance of the First Impressionby posthumousComment: If I had another life I would study poetry if for no other reason than to be able to appreciate your immense talents. I don't know how a person even begins to create art such as this. It was wonderful to view. Thank you for sharing it. |

Under an Indifferent Sunby instepsComment: Good grief this is good. Who needs to look through the Magnum site when we have work like this on our own dpc site. The photograph of the cloths line with towels and gloves made my heart skip a beat-it is just so wonderful. The entire essay is held together by the expert capture of shadows and light. I will enjoy looking through this many more times. |

WhatHappensby ubiqueComment: Another amazingly beautiful essay from you. This one hits a cord with me. There is nothing I hate more then knowing exactly what my image will look like before I take it. For me, the idea of visualizing and/or setting up a picture before it is taken completely destroys any reason to take the picture. The unexpected surprises that can end up on the sensor are more beautiful than anything a person could plan for. Your exciting photographs give unquestionable support to your essays premise. You have given me some new ideas. Thank you. |
