!.travel-to-Oaxacaby mariucaComment: Wonderful addition to your Oaxaca series. You did "walk with open eyes" and captured what you saw with honesty. I am enjoying the series very much and look forward to part 3. |

Oldies but Goodiesby herfotomanComment: What an interesting and clever essay. I did not have a connection to the color images-just saw a picture of a nondescript older person. I had little interest in knowing more. Then, surprisingly, I immediately connected with the close-up black and white. It was as if i could understand something about them as a person and would be interested to know more. I don't know if my take on your essay says more about me or your essay but either way it gives me something interesting to think about. |

The Secrecy of Shadowsby instepsComment: I am so impressed by your brilliant capture of light and shadows. It first glance I see gorgeous bold images of dark and light and quickly move on to a thrill with each detail I recognize (power lines, weeds, hanging cloths, rips in fabric). For some reason the details are very meaningful to me. I find the combination of the bold black and white and the visible details to be very powerful. I have so many favorites this time I won't even try to pick them out. It has been such a treat to spend time with your essay and I am sure I will be back many more times. |

Zama Zamaby ubiqueComment: Again (as in the Swazi lo-fi essay) I have gained valuable information about your part of the world. The writing and the photographs are so well done I almost feel a connection to Swaziland.
I have looked through multiple times. What struck me on revisiting the essay is how it came to life. My first time through I thought the area was deserted, all of the businesses closed, no one around. With each viewing I realized that, in fact, most of the businesses are open with product visible, and there are people in multiple photographs. On closer inspection many of the buildings are brightly painted and well cared for. As always your essays are complex. Old deserted appearing buildings that harbor life and hope. You have masterfully shown people living on the edge but living with hope and the willingness to "keep trying".
Your brilliant essays are a highlight for me. |

In Comes Springby instepsComment: Oh, yes. That is nice. I forgot how much I love pinhole images. That would make a wonderful print. |
