Probably it's just my taste, but I feel a much tigher crop could have worked better in giving her more presence. Or perhaps just a framing which would leave some space on the right for her to gaze through. But probably it's just me.

Cute image. I might be wrong, but it looks to me like her skin as smoothed in prostprocessing. If that's the case, perhaps it was a bit excessive.

I like the pose and the smile, quite personal. Not sure about the sepia. I wonder if a brighter BW treatment would have been better, but probably it's just my taste.

Funny :) I feel a softer, more diffused lighting, or at least a reflector lifting shadows under her chin, would have improved image considerably.

Quite natural portrait. I am not sure the frame helps or not, perhaps the image would be better without. Definetely, a tigher crop including only the upper half of the image would have improved the it considerably for me, making for an interesting composition with his arms and hands leading to his eyes. But probably it's just my taste.

Beautiful lightpainting and interesting idea, probably a bit too alternative for voters to reward it :) It actually reminds me of the fallen kings in Lord of the Rings, with the gaping mouth. I would be curious to know how this was done. Interesting take and out of the box, well done!

Nice smile and expression, quite personal. The flash catchlight in the eyes is a bit too prominent. The colour noise is quite strong, particularly in the hair, and the image could have benefitted from desaturating it. I am guessing this is either an extreme crop or an image taken with a digicam, perhaps a phone. With an external flash, bouncing from the wall could have been a good options, particularly if precenting direct flash light from falling on the lady (people can come up with amazing stuff by masking the flash with a piece of black foam or even their hand). The red on her jumper and surroundings is one of the most difficult hues to retain detail in with most cameras. Blurring the background a bit without losing too much xmas details, so to fake a shallow depth of field, could have helped enhancing the subject.

I like the expression and the subject. I find the post processing too intense in the way it smoothed the skin and generally detail. Wrinkles on the elderly can be quite photogenic, actually.

Environmental portrait, I like the idea. If anything, I find the colors and processing a bit too intense. Given there is so much in terms of contrast to the image, particularly in the exposed roots and shadows, I wonder how a BW version would have worked.

Urban portrait. A bit on the dark side. I wonder if making the image a bit brighter by increasing luminosity or playing around with the channels mixer could have improved contrast without excessive posterization. If the intention was to capture the urban environment as well, posing the subject in slow shutter speed in front of the passing cars could have worked quite well.
