| 07/04/2007 04:31:12 AM | Taxies II: Tomare!by gjumiComment: How's this related to solo? Well, there's a single taxi moving, so that guy went solo, while the other two guys are still waiting, strengthening the feeling of the solo action of the other taxi. Now, not only that he went solo, but he went rebellious, because the sign says Tomare, which means Stop! As the homeless cat ( noraneko )observes, it's written upside down, so maybe the Taxi understood it in an upside down way, meaning to the opposite of what the message says. But, people don't know about the Taxi's ways of thinking, so that's why they look so baffled. And, it's five (baffled?) people, don't forget the ojii-sans. I can't say all of them are, the top most left ojii-san seems like he doesn't care what's going on.
Thanks for the visits, the votes and the comments. |
| 06/30/2007 06:54:45 AM | Still has ants on em'...by jsc9306Comment: I think that you didn't use flash on purpose here, so an extra point for that. But, still, the light isn't pleasing, the camera has moved, the focus isn't sharp, and the composition doesn't make me want to look at this picture longer that a second. |
| 06/30/2007 06:38:30 AM | Purple Petuniaby heidibComment: There are many factors that make this image a bad one, and I'll just try to mention two:
i) the size of the image is small. There are cases when even small images can have an impact, they look better as a thumbnail, rather than full sized. But, not in this case. The focus of this image is supposed to be the flower, so you need to show it in all its glory and beauty, or whatever the point of the shot it.
ii) the composition is terrible. There's a flower dead center, which isn't bad by itself, but then you have some other flowers fighting for attention, like the one looking to the ground, on the left. Also, the bottom one is cut in half, and this just makes this photo mutilated, instead of interesting.
There is something good on this photo: the separation of the subject by colour. Yes, your flower has a different colour than the background. But, this is hardly enough to make this an interesting shot.
Better luck in the other challenges. |

| 06/29/2007 11:36:13 PM | Water colorby anferhComment: Wonderful idea, great realization of a very difficult subject. I believe this was done at sea, with natural light, not in a place where you can control light. |
| 06/29/2007 11:33:16 PM | School work can be so boring.....how can I spice it up?by HollywoodHoebagComment: If I may comment: this is a lazy photo! Yes, it meets the challenge, because you have singled out your subject by colour, but there's nothing else except that, not even focus, no fancy composition, no school work (I don't understand how song lyrics are related to school work). I think this is a waste of a good idea. Please, go back to this shot again, try it with different lightning, with different composition, work on the image more that just one snap. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 06/29/2007 11:23:21 PM | Poppyby lookazyxComment: Great bokeh, great darks! The red pops out of the picture, the blue, the yellow, the green push it out of the picture. And the darks, the shadows grab my attention and don't let me go out of this photo. |
| 06/29/2007 11:20:36 PM | revival never goes out of styleby boysetsfireComment: When I started windowshopping and marvelling the perfect dolls of design industries, colour-coolness and hippines left the frame of my vision, and I turned into a shadow, a faceless shadow firmly holding my empty bags.
Now, while still headless from previous experiences, I'm trying to move on and return to life of colours, but the scars are still there: the shadow still makes me intuitively move my had close to the pocket.
I guess...
Anyhow, one of the best photos in general, and street photos, in particular. Congratulations for a great capture. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 06/29/2007 11:10:25 PM | Cantinaby MichaelCComment: Having read Coelho's Alchemist a long time ago, I don't remember where Santiago meets the gypsy fortune teller, but I always suspect it was in a was in a Cantina, that would have an entrance just like this one, that is, with a blue windowless blue door, framed by green and red lines, built on decaying walls. And, definitely there should be a stone step, to firmly show that the cantina, as well as fortune telling is there to stay, no matter that the walls are loosing their colour. As for beer, everybody is welcome to have a sip. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
