One thing to remember when shooting for publication/sales/parents not a single one of them cares about the uniform. Its the person that is in the uniform that matters to them. Expose for the faces and let the highlights on the pants end where they may. I probably could have brought them back a little, but really why? Now if I'm shooting an advert for the manu of the uniform I can see worrying about that, but really If I'm doing that they better let me light it how I want and I don't have to compromise. :D

Were you being profetic seeing that it wouldn't be his only ribbon for long because you knew it would be DQed or because they have talent and will be getting more?

I have to admit, when I saw this image I was blown away that it was on the front page. With how picky and anal the voters are, to put this image on the front page with the distraction in the background just boggles my mind. The model is beautiful, it has great lighting on her, but that background literally kills what could have been a really great image. Congrats on the ribbon.

I like the colors, the tilt even works, the background nicely blurred. But for this one and quick smile/smirk and view to the camera would make it so much better.

I really like the framing of this shot, but I wish she was doing something different with her arms/hands. they just seem static and she does not look relaxed.

I have to agree with the other comment, its her arm position that makes it seem that way to me.

I think beyond working on the panning you should also look at WB and editing issues with the shot. I pulled the image and made a quick edit to it. Since I don't know the real color of the truck I'm essentially guessing. The shot is a bit overexposed as well. One other thing try to get a lower angle and shoot a bit straighter on it(shooting parallel) while working on the pans. If you want me to pull the edit just shoot me a PM and I'll pull it.

Of all the things that are going on to me in this photo, the best part is the attention to detail. The two reflections in the water.........goodness Ken you are amazing..........and twisted.
