Good timing, try getting a lower perspective on these, shoot a bit tighter if you have the lens length to do so. Crop tight and get rid of that background player

These are tough lighting conditions. I tend to overexpose backgrounds and whites on uniforms so I can see the face. If you are using Aperture priority dial in some + exposure compensation for backlight subjects.

Great timing, good low angle. But the face(important thing to mom and dad) is underexposed. I'd rather blow highlights on that uniform than underexpose the face.

Great timing, but look at those settings! My man crank that ISO up and get some stop action. 1/160 is a bit slow for sports unless you are panning race cars.

I'm curious how much the "Crap" added to the bucket helped or hurt the photo. Did you have a willing subject to provide the crap, or did you have to scrounge around for it?

You're wrong on both counts. Borders generally fall outside of the normal editing rules (you can't otherwise make selections in Basic, for example) as long as the frame is distinct and goes around the outside, and no text, clip art or other photographs were added. If "background removal" applied to borders, then EVERY border would be illegal, and breakout borders have been validated multiple times outside of Expert editing, including this one.

I could show you many "borders" that were DQed including this one to show you that Borders do infact fall inside the normal editing rules. That is a faded border that was De'd and there are many others that have been for "creating things that weren't in the original capture"

This part is relevant to the border. The frame goes around the outside edge, it's obviously a border, no image area was added (the frame doesn't match the background and was within the captured area), and no text, clip art or parts of other photographs were added. That concludes the rules on borders, even in Basic, and we've validated multiple breakout borders. I used one all the way back in 2004 and no one even questioned it.

This part is relevant to the CAPTURE, not the border.
