Wonderful leading lines, composition and the leading off to the "fog" is amazing. I love the conversion to black and white as well. I would give this a 10 if it were in voting stage.

Greetings from the Critic club.

First off I love the feelings that this entry portrays. I like the sillhouetting that has occured with the exposure. I'm not sure I wouldnt have tried to get just a touch of detail in the shot though. Perhaps tried a second curtain flash with it turned way down, so that they sky doesnt change but you get a little detail in it. I'm not sure how it would have turned out if it had at all. But just trying to find a suggestion that might help improve a really good photo already. Congrats on your 6+ score and good luck in future challenges.

Greetings from the Critique Club

FIrst off let me congratulate you for using one of my favorite subjects. Firefighters are hero's every day of the week wether people realize it or not. Ok off to the critique.

FIrst I like the composition although it leans a bit to the left. Watch your horizons while shooting or while post processing. Voters dont like to have to feel they have to tilt their head to view it straight. Next lets look at your focal point. The title leads me to a person but the focal point is on the car in the foreground. I'd have tried to manually pick a focal point and put it on the firefighter to give the blurred foreground and the background. Although the reflections in the car are nice it distracts from what should be the focal point. I like the fact that you went black and white with it. It has good sharpness, contrast, and subject. Had your focal point been on the correct feature in the frame I could easily see this as finishing at closer or above 6. Good job overall and good luck in future challenges.

Greetings from the Critique club. First let me say that I enjoyed looking at this entry. Its a very well focused and creative shot. You have good lighting. I would like to see a bit more light on the one side of the pepper. Creative use of negative space, I wish there werent quite so much of it though. That may be a personal preference. Being advanced editing I might also have cloned out the stray flame at the top it takes a bit of focus off the main subject. Overall very creative and well done, fits the challenge well. My vote would have been a 7 had I voted.

Greetings from the Critique club. First I'd like to say what an awesome oppurtunity to shoot some wild elephants. Wildlife shots like this make me jealous. Let me say I think the shot scored fairly well for the challenge. A very tough challenge for sure with high scores. Let me state that I think you may have lost a few points for composition cutting off the elephant on the left may have hurt you some. I'd also liked to have seen a little clone to help remove the distracting piece of grass thats taking away from the little elephant in the front. Nice focus, good post processing and overall a well done entry.

Welcome to DPC from the Critique Club, and your first submission to challenges. I have a couple of suggestions for you on your image that might help you with future challenges. First off your subject seems a bit soft then sharpened up a bit, you have lost detail in the birds feathers. I'd suggest with the lens your using to stop it down a bit for a sharper image and bump the ISO up a bit to keep your shutter speed. You also appear to have some CA in the high contrast area in the lower left. Since this was advanced editing that could have been fixed in processing. Your placement of the subject is pretty good. Good luck in future challenges.
