I thank you all for your comments which with one noticeable exception - (I had no idea my camera had a clutch!)- I found both useful and encouraging.

Most of you made reference to the darkness of the image and in my defence I plead that it was in fact a dark and mostly horrible day! I appreciate that I could have played with the exposure settings on RAW conversion but I am new to this game and didn't want to transgress the basic editing rules. I will try harder next time.

dnmc This seems washed out to me and it is difficult to see any perspective let alone vanishing point.

Foreground is good and I like the head but it kinda falls apart from there for me.

I may have missed any nuance that may be at play - sorry

The shot seems very cluttered and busy. What perspective there is has been compromised by the shadow. Maybe a close crop would help?

I don't mean to be overly critical and i am just calling it as I see it.

dnmc how can this be a vanishing point? Apart from the foreground bush it is difficult to make out anything else.

The challenge was quite specific in what was required and this shot - in my opinion - didn't hit the mark.
