I love that intense stare on the child as he/she holds in his open hand these delicate soap bubbles! Focus is tight and details in the overall composition are sharp as a tack. The bubble is presented to us on a child's open hand and it is almost like he/she is offering it to us. The other way of looking at this scene is that we, the viewers, are invited to intensely gaze upon this bubble like the child is doing. And we do, we gaze intently on the child and the bubble as we are captivated at looking at this scene. Great job here!

Making bubbles ...

The idea is good but the execution could be better. I like how you use the element of the wine and the wine glasses but I think this entry could have been much stronger if you had zoomed in on your focus. There is too much background that is distracting the eye from the main focus and that is the bubbles in the wine glass. If you zoomed in on just one wine glass where we just see half of it in the picture you would have the pleasing curve of the glass for the eye to look at and study. The viewer would also see the stream of wine being poured into the glass and the bubbles that result from that action. Also the reds of the wine could be deeper and more rich in hue if you used a black background.

frog bath

This is a great shot of a frog! But because the majority of the bubbles are located in the far right top half they easily get lost into the background. The frog dominates the photo. Perhaps a tighter focus on just the face of the frog with the bubbles taking up half of the photo space would have given us a stronger connection to bubbles. Not only that the spherical shape of the frog's eye would compliment the spherical shapes of the bubbles and with a closer view the viewer can more readily make that connection.

The composition of the elements is definately interesting but I think that the border is a little too much. Yes it does make the composition pop off the page but I think that if there was a little more dimension to the edges of the "black box area" it would move it out of the realm of flat and give it a third dimension and some depth....I am thinking that if the shot could have been accomplished with a box where the inside is deep black and the outside is white....just a random thought.

Back to the composition. I like how you have the flower curved such that it looks as if it is resting comfortabley on the bubble. The bubble is in focus but some of the details in the seperation in the flower petals are lost - it needs to be in focus better to improve sharpness so that we can appreciate the beauty of the flower as well as the bubble.

Well I have to say that this is a rather unusual and interesting shot. With just the view of the ballet dancer's shoes appearing to be balanced upon this delicate bubble it instantly invokes the idea of the dancer having to ber dainty and delicate as the bubble -otherwise it would pop.

I have been trying to figure out how you managed this capture and the closest I could figure is that you had your model dangle her feet over a deck and then had to try, try, and try again to get the bubble perfectly positioned for the shot. Persistence paid off.

The only critique I have is that the photo may have been stronger if you could have captured more fluffy white clouds surrounding/framing the dancer's feet so that we have an stronger connection to the phrase "dancing on cloud nine". But I know that Mother Nature is not an easy model to work with:-)

An interesting bunch of reflections there on this half sphere....I am trying to figure out what it is that I am seeing as that it looks like some interesting abstract art at the present moment. But that is this shots allure. It keeps you looking.

Wonderful! Love the lighting on the subject. The background is complementary to the image and makes the subject pop off of the screen. Not to mention the expression and the pose of the subject as he holds a tiny delicate bubble between those chopsticks. Great job!

Bubble World

The bubble is in perfect focus and is gently nestled between three blades of grass that seem to hold it up. However, the composition on this photo could have been more interesting. Their is a dead leaf in the background and that could have been more effectivately integrated into the composition if you had taken the photo somewhere where there existed a single reflection of a tree within the bubble. The view would then have instantly connected the leaf with the tree in the bubble but as it stands here there are several trees reflected such that the connection is not strong enough to support that relation.

Bubbling Sunlight

The composition is very interesting. It almost gives the appearance of a mountain of bubbles. I think the composition would be even stronger if the sun was just above the bubbles such that it gives the appearance that it is rising/setting above/behind this "mountain of bubbles". Not to mention that it would give the appearance that the sun is gently supported/nestled by this tiny delicate bubbles. The other critique I have on this is that there appears to be some sort of object that is slightly out of focus in the top right hand corner. That area of "something being there" distracts from the overall pleasing picture.

The bubble is in perfect focus. Our eyes are immediately drawn to it. Then we notice the the person in the background with his/her lips puckered such that leads us to believe that he/she blew this bubble from his/her lips. The blue tones and lighting adds to the mood of calm and serene, not to mention adds a hint of mystery as in "the object appears out of the blue - from which did it come and who is the mysterious figure in the background.". Good job.
