Mellow Yellowby renonovadoComment: Interesting arrangement of shapes here to suggest a woman's body. I like the hues of the purple and yellow. Not to keen on the shadows existing under the lemons for it is a little distracting - perhaps a flashlight beam aimed on the underside and the camera flash would have lessened the deep shadows cast. The purple background while not a solid flat color compliments the yellow of the lemons because the textures on these two objects almost mimic each other. |

bright pairby speaseComment: Nice yellow and purple hues in this floral shot. My only critique is that the focus could be zoomed in a little more to exclude some of the greenery background. Closer cropping would have focused the eye more strongly on these flowers. |

Complements...repel?by jurassicComment: Nice hue tones on these reds and green. I like how the green chip is standing up to not only be the different color from the crowd but exist in a different dimension from all those who choose just to "lay their chips where they may." My only critiques is that it would have made a stronger impact if you had the green chip fully in the center so that the reds radiate out from the green core like petals of a flower. And it would have been nicer if the red chips in the background were as sharp as those in the foreground - if your camera has a manual adjust (at this stage of the voting I don't know so I am supposing here with just some friendly advice) you could close down the aperature to get sharper image results in the background and still keep the sharpness in the foreground. |

Fruit Bowlby BebeComment: Very creative! Love the purples and yellows in this one. Some of those purple hues are nice, deep rich ones (those on the far right) that give this image a "tasty" appeal. The only critique is that because you had to freeze the lemons together to shape the bowl we don't get to see the texture of those lemons or the rich inviting colors. The ice obsures our view of the veins and beautiful yellow hues of the sliced lemons. Hmmm, toothpicks would not have worked to keep the shape but mayhap perhaps a light paste around the rind to glue it to a clear glass bowl would have helped so that the inner texture and color of the lemon would have been visible?? Just a thought. |

Guitar and Picksby RichSealComment: Love the colors here and the composition. The green picks compliment the red of the guitar very nicely - hee they exist in harmony since we are also invoking music just by looking at the objects. My only critique is the background detracts from the main focus. If the background was a solid, flat and deep black it really would have made the red guitar and the green picks litteraly "pop" off of the screen. As it is, the texture of the black background is distracting and the "flat" greyish black tone does help the image "pop". |

Life Jacket Anyone?by FotoMunkiComment: Very bold and vibrant hues in this capture. The oranges and blues leap off the frame and immediately grab the attention of the viewer. Very nicely captured and done. |

Overachiever by scalvertComment: I love the creativity and patience that this took! My jaw just drops seeing that this is a live ant! Goodness I have found someone else who is as crazed as I am to use live insects as models in conceptual shots:-) ! I am glad that you changed the elements from the first shot to this one. The red checked cloth works perfectly to compliment this "model" for it helps to invoke the idea of ants invading the picnic table and carrying off food:-) You are spot on that the picnic basket could have been in better focus for the shot for that would have strengthened the imagery as well -
Patience and persistance - it really paid off for I know that insects just don't cooperate well;-) Kudos to you for acomplishing such a creative shot . |

As Fragile As...by RgarciaComment: An interesting composition that presents the idea to the viewer that the earth can be just as fragile as a soap bubble. Two things that could greatly improve this shot and move it from o.k. to really good: One) To strengthen the imagery that the earth is fragile and "balanced" precariously it would have been better to orient the bubble holder under the bubble/earth. That way gravity (a play on both meaning here) of the sitiuation is present: The earth is more in a position to just fall (instead of slip off and fall) just like the bubble can pop at any moment. Second, the bubble needed to be more sharply in focus and more visible...here in this take it is too faint in areas and because of that we notice the "earth" much more readily than that of the soap bubble. |

Surrounded By Bubblesby mitchpixComment: This is a nice candid shot. And how fortunate that the girl is wearing a shirt that sports the word "pop"! It adds a little ironic variety to the photo considering she is surrounded by delicate bubbles that could "pop" at any moment. The thing that would have improved this candid photo would have been if you could have captured a smile on her face as well. |

Bubble Funby alison05Comment: This is a nice candid photo of a child taking a bubble bath. Technically: Things are in nice sharp focus but the composition could have been more tightly framed around just the child's head his bubble crown. The other critique is that you title this Bubble Fun but this poor child looks as if he is having anything but.... His lips are tightly pursed and he seems unhappy. A smile upon his face woud have made this shot more appealing and play into the title better. Instead of fun that we stereotypically associate with a bubble bath I am left wondering what he is so unhappy about. |
