Beautiful color tones and your main subject is in crisp focus. Love how the white of the dandelion pops off the rich green backdrop. The focus is wonderful for you see all the fine details of the plant. Simple, clean, and elegantly minimalistic. 9

Simple, clean and very minimalistic. The deep rich blue of the sapphire really pops visually and calls the eye's immediate attention to it against the stark white background. Tonal detail on the gold seems flat but that can be due to light reflecting back from the white background and illuminating the ring to wash out the warm gold hues. Still it is a wonderful jewelry shot. The other little critique is that there is a spot shadow on the base of the ring that is distracting - looks like there was an overhead light uses that caused the problem. Perhaps two additional lights on each side of the ring would elimnate or lessen that.

Rossen you should not get discouraged at all. Every good photographer has to start somewhere and the one thing all photographers, from beginners to professionals, find challenging is lighting. You chose a challenging subject with a low lighting conditions. In all my years of shooting photography I have never tried to tackle shooting an extingushed match. So you are challenging yourself and learning new things - which is absolutely good! Don't get discouraged as this is your first attempt. DON'T give up or put the camera away! I repeat, DON'T give up or put the camera away! The more you take pictures, try new things, and look to get a better picture you will very definately see your skills grow. And btw, at my age, I am still learning new things and trying new things with my photography - not all of them work out but I try & learn from them. Now, let's look at your picture. First off your composition is good but there is room for improvement. Get closer to your subject if you can either through camera zoom or closer cropping. If you bring us closer to the subject you want your viewer to see, you capture our attention more. The next thing is to get sharper focus on your main subject - the match. In low lighting conditions you will need to prop your camera on something steady not to mention your subject also needs to be rock steady otherwise you get a soft focus or blur. One last thing I want to add is that I like the red tones here because the color makes me think of heat & fire. Even though the flame is out we are left with the lasting impression that it is still present in the photo. Good job in making us 'see' something that has disappeared.

Certainly the scene is very beautiful. You combined the two photos together seemlessly - this looks like one photo. Good job. Colors are wonderful and vibrant. The only thing that bothers me is the scene looks a tad too busy for us to drink in the beauty of the Everglades. The culprit here is the billowy clouds/ or pop-corn clouds as they are sometimes called. The clouds above and the reflection of the clouds below in the water make this scene too busy. Just a plain blue sky would not do either - it would just be too plain. Perhaps, waiting for a time of day or a day when the clouds are the wispy cirrus clouds could give the scene a distinct and interesting character that is visually appealing without being overly busy or too simple.

Love the simple and elegant beauty in this scene. The azure blue of the sky matches the downy white of the ground and ice covered tree below. I can feel the crisp air as I breath in this lovely winter scene.

The black & white tones really stand out well and pop out in this composition. I just have to point out an interesting composition of elements I saw in your PAD 2007 folder. This photo sits next to . I could not help but see them as two photos that would complement each other very well if they were blended together into one composition. Just a thought: The simple black and white tones AND shapes of each object could complement each other very well . The curved portion of the clock with the hands on Noon could be in the lower right hand corner (trying to get an early morning hour like 7 a.m. would possibly spoil the curved shape rounding out the corners of the photo). While the curve of the plate with(hopefully you have this) the words 'lunch' upside down would appear in the top left corner. The plate would complement the curve and the time of the clock in the lower right corner.

Saw your Mom's forum post in the Underated Song Title entries and had to stop by. Congradulations Taylor!!!! Keep up the good work, never stop learning & having fun and you will soon be seeing a a few 6.0 finishing scores in the your future. Not having seen the music video I cannot approach critiqueing the photo from that angle. But, I will have to take the previous commenters words that it looks like it is straight out of the video. What is good about this photo as a stand alone from the video is the compositional elements and the conceptual symbology. I like that you presented this in a horizontal presentation for it complements and greatly calls attention to the rectangular index card with the message. The depth of Field helps add to the 'conceptual symbology' present in this photo. There is the well known saying that 'People hide behind masks and present their masked face to the world.' The face is blurred and out of focus because it needs to be to call attention to your main subject - the 'mask' of the photo. The main subject of the photo is the idex card with the message to the world stating "Everyone thinks I'm Happy but I'm not" Instead of hiding behind the 'mask', the 'mask' now becomes the method of showing the feelings & emotions most people keep hidden. Great job!

This has a edgy surreal feel to it. It also makes me think of Magritte. Great composition. The main objects (the frames and the man) really pop out at you from the sea of black.

Love the water drops that grace this delicate flower. The white and the red of the flower also pops out at you. Nice work.

Finally finding some time to comment on postings on the forum thread "Unique & Experimental Borders". I really like the tennis player 'breaks' out of his box. The border does not contain this tennis player as his arm & the racket extend outside the box to to hit the tennis ball that has also escaped it's boundaries. Creating this type of border where the subject partially escapes creates visual interest and a sense of being 3-dimensional and/or in motion because the subject is given the illusion that it is coming out of it borders towards the viewer. Great job.
