I think the strength of this composition is that it shows the beauty of a simple 'everyday' scene. There is soft light coming through the window. The rosy hue compliments the rose imprints seen on the lace strongly calling to mind the flower into the scene. The pink blush and the pastel blue/green of the wall are appealing to the eye. The scroll work on the cross sculpture adds another element of visual appeal for the swirl design works along side the delicate patterns woven in the lace. |

La Défenceby JimiRoseComment: Voted earlier coming back to comment now.
I think you made a wise choice to put this into B&W for the color would just distract from the 'action' and idea that this composition is presenting. The title identifies the place but I see a reflection of life and of the journey. The girl is taking a rest on the steps and looking over her shoulder at the remaining climb she will have to make. I see this composition as symbolizing life and that life is a journey of steps you take to get to the top where your journey ends. Every now and then one takes a pause on the steps when you reach a certain 'life stage'. But once done, the climb begins again. There is a pigeon in flight that seems to be emerging from her. It is as if, her mind is taking flight - she seems to be reflecting on the span of years ahead of her. |

The Love of Treesby jdannelsComment: Voted earlier coming back to comment.
Love the shapes of the trees that 'emerge' from the fog in this composition. The capture is excellent for I can feel the quiet solitude and chill air of the early morning where the fog casts it's blanket over the landscape. Now would be a good time to just sit, watch, and have a nice cup of coffee to wait for the sun to pull aside the misty blanket and 'awaken' the land. Til then, we can appreciate the beauty of the trees that emerge from the fog. |

I love the lines, colors and shapes of this minimalist abstract. The colors are soft almost pastel with just some touches of bold that pop such as the deep orange/red and dark gold that are seen wither the sweeping lines are. I like how you composed it such that the curved lines come out of the top left and sweep and curl around the circular glass just off center of the composition. Nicely crafted and composed. |

And In My Dream I Was Walking Through The Valley of the Shadow of Deathby hotpastaComment: Voted earlier coming back to comment now.
This is one of those compositions that can play with your mind. At first, I know that the poodle is taking a nap on the floor with the windows reflected on the polished wood floor. But the overhead angle looking down makes it look as if he is 'walking' on solid ground passing by windows. The interesting angle does make it look as if, in his dreams, he walks past some 'heavenly' windows in the sky. Indeed those window reflections take on the invoked idea of clouds. |

The Watchersby Tommy_MacComment: Voted earlier coming back to comment now.
Love the sunset hues and the leading lines of the pier. The thing that makes this composition interesting is the action of the people in the shot. It makes one pause - there is someone in the water swimming or playing. It is then we, the audience, notice that there are people on the pier who seem to be watching the swimmer/beach walker. And of course then there is us. We who are watching the watchers and the beach walker making us an active participant in the scene. |

Back Patioby namComment: Voted earlier coming back to comment now.
I love the tilt for it adds a bit of touch of whimsy. The touch of whimsy belongs to a time that has gotten old and forgotten. At one time the bike and the chair were new and promised adventure and comfort. Now those days are gone and done. The rusted bike and the chair with the pealing paint have both been there on the patio so long that they are like elderly companions that sit and remember the better days. I just noticed the shadow of the tree and the tree which is barren - that too plays into the mood and feel of better days having come and gone. |

Ebb and Flowby bhugeComment: Voted earlier coming back to comment now.
What makes this visually appealing in the shapes and lines the ebb and flow as you so call attention to in the title. There is a strong sense of floating as we see the tiny tenticles dance and flow in the water. My only critique is that it could use a bit more contrast to deepen the shadows such that the midtones and highlights of the jellyfish pops more off the backdrop. |

Tulipsby izadoodleComment: Voted earlier coming back to comment now.
Love the B&W tones and the 'texture' I see in this floral still life. Great details and the curvature of the tulips in the vase is very pleasing to the eye. The vignette helps draw the eye towards the main subject in this art piece. Very lovely and well composed. |

Sunsetby GinaRothfelsComment: Voted earlier coming back to comment now.
An interesting composition of shapes and color to convey a mood or feeling. Love the bright and bold orange ball; it DOES make me think of the sun. It just pops off the black backdrop. The slice of freeform that contains green can make one think about nature and trees, but because the main shape invokes imagery of the sky I see the green ripples as an aurora borealis. One small critique - I think the large border takes a little away from the appeal of the image. The orange thin line calls attention away from your main subject - I feel that orange ball should shine alone in the composition. |
