Grats on finding a single tree that can be isolated from the backdrop. Wonderful find and a very lovely tree. This tree dominates the composition and captivates the viewer's eye. I just love those red-gold leaves sparkle like jewels as they catch the light. I also like the low angle you took this at in that it grows out from the bottom left and reaches for the sky as it bends up and out to the top of the frame.

This is a very different take on the trees challenge. It may not be the stunning beauty of landscapes but it does make you stop and think of the fuel to those nice, warm and toasty times hanging out near the fireplace. I wish the the light was better to illuminate and separate the axe from the firewood in the backdrop. Something as simple as a flashlight, a longer exposure and someone to shine the light up & down on the back of the axe & handle would have made the axe standout from the backdrop. I do like how you have a dramatic spotlight on the tree stump that holds the axe but the rest of the composition the lighting falls a bit flat. I wonder what this looks like in color and if it would have been better visually over the B&W tones.

The composition of having the two aspens grow out of the bottom corners and stretch to the sky makes me, the view feel very small indeed in the presence of this two trees. The white trunks really contrast boldly off of the blue sky. My only critique is that I wish that those two trees could be the only elements in the composition, but I'm sure that it was nearly impossible to find trees that were remote from other things (I found that to be challenging myself in shooting for this challenge)

Heh, something a little different to spruce up the trees;-) Points for the humor factor...I still would have loved to see more of the lovely autumn colors on the trees but I get it that they are the supporting cast in this composition. Oh, and I'd much rather have the humor of a storm trooper on a speeder bike than an ewok:-)

Love the blanket of gold and orange on the forest floor. The detail in the bark of the tree trunks is great. Off in the distance I can see the lovely trees with leafy foliage that mimics the forest floor.

Love the leading lines and shadow of the fence that act as a path to lead my eye to the tree at the end. Lovely autumn colors can be seen dressing up the greens of the tree. It is a great composition, but I do have two small critiques. First off I think that the composition could be even stronger if it was composed on the vertical - the reasons are that it would follow the vertical lines of the shadow and complement the vertical line orientation of the main tree. Not to mention it would eliminate the elements on the far right and left that do nothing to add to the scene. Lastly, I think the one stop resizing robbed some of the sharpness and detail of the large photo. You could get that back by sharpening twice (the minimal rules do allow that) Nonetheless, very beautiful and well scene shot.

I wish that you were able to capture all of the autumn color tree (the full trunk) but it may be because it is so hard to isolate just a single tree without introducing distracting elements. What makes this shot so spectacular for me is that gorgeous light that makes those leaves sparkle with gold, red-orange, and green light. Kudos to you for capturing the beauty of the tree in spectacular light.

Beautiful abstract of the autumn gold that adorns the trees. Love the simple lines and the rich warm golden hues that captures the attention. The lines and the gold 'dots' gives this composition texture - it is almost like brush strokes on a painting. Nicely done.

Great B&W tones in this composition. The sky takes on a moody almost rainy day aspect. The tall tree seems to lean in towards the mountain view beckoning us to come forth to take in the view and seek shelter from the weather.

Absolutely *LOVE* the lighting that illuminates the beauty of the trees. I can almost hear the sway of the jewel like leaves waving in the breeze. Top notch work.
