Very much in the vein of NBC's show Revolution:-) Yes, that is spooky and eerie come to think of it. All the buildings in the city are dark except the one lone window in which the light shines like a ghostly glow. |

Now that is a spooky face coming out from the darkness! Lighting is a bit uneven such that it doesn't allow this spooky face to truly shine. There are some great groves and details in this face but half is missing and some portions have the highlights completely blown out (nose and portion near the eye. Typically a face light from below will cast sinister shadows and light up the face such that it appears threatening. I can't tell exactly how you had the lighting but it may have turned out better if the light was more directly below and you adjust aperture and shutter speed to get expose the composition more evenly so there are no blown highlights. |

Corpse brideby tejakitakComment: Voted earlier coming back to comment.
Love the pose of the model - the head tilt upwards adds character and makes me wonder what she might be thinking. Lighting and details are very good. Nice catchlights in the eyes. I do have two critiques. The editing (and I believe even Advanced editing) would allow you to select the neck & hand and change the color to more closely match the blue tones of her face. The second is that there is just something odd about the lower eye being skin tones when the rest of the face is blue and the bottom lashes sit so far down. Googling a picture of the Copse Bride it might have been better to select that lower lid and match it to the white of the eye. |

Pumpkin Headby giantmikeComment: Voted earlier coming back to comment.
Expression is mad and very threatening. Add to that mixture the overlay of a pumpkin shining through and you get one scary dude you don't want to mess with while walking in a lonely field:-) That said, I do have two critiques that would make the composition even stronger. First, the details/contrast in the eyes are lost and a bit dark. I would recommend playing around with brightness/contrast on the iris/pupil or if you have it Topaz Adjust to bring out the details. Second, there is just a little of the pink/red tones on the lips/mouth that are visible which gives that area a strange 'outline' that doesn't blend in with the rest of the orange skin tones that are dominant in the face. I think you just needed to make sure the pumpkin overlay covered that area as well. |

dark sacrificeby posthumousComment: Voted earlier coming back to comment.
Great tones and detail seen on the light colored sheep. Try, try as I might and having stared at this a long time I cannot make a connection to something Halloween, sinster, or spooky. Now I did mention that the light colored sheep have great tones and detail but their 'seems' to be a black sheep in the mix but it gets lost/blends in the dark tones of the ground on either side of it. Perhaps the sacrifice is the black sheep....the black sheep of the family? Not sure. |

What the cat sawby snafflesComment: Voted earlier coming back to comment.
This is a great photo of this calico cat. However, there are not many strong visual clues/cues in the photo to associate this capture with Halloween. I am looking in the cat's eye to see if there is something there (which there may be) but it is too small to make out what might be reflected there. I know animals have been said to sense paranormal things but this cat doesn't look frightened or threatened. It is just sitting there calmly. I do see the chains in the backdrop but again how does this connect with the cat and what it sees? I feel the image has potential but just need stronger visual cues within the photo to strongly associate this with Halloween or something spooky. |

Happy Halloween!by pgirish007Comment: Voted earlier coming back to comment.
Very cute little girl - great clarity in the details and the eyes. The colors and skin tones are excellent. Now that said it is a great portrait shot but it doesn't scream Halloween 100%. I do see the two boys dressed in costume on either side of her but they are not the main focus/subject of the shot; the little girl is. I think if you took the shot on the vertical that we, the audience, could see the trick or treat bag/pumpkin in her hand it would have more strongly associated the photo with Halloween. |

Skeleton in the Carby PhotomommomComment: Voted earlier coming back to comment.
Love the composition and the PP on the car to give it a textured aged look. The skeleton adds the halloween touch to the scene. I think that this had potential for greater visual impact if you added a little bit of age/texture to the bone white skeleton that seems to stick out because it does not fit with the PP of the rest of the scene. Taking the texture/colors of the top right and overlaying it over the skeleton at an opacity of 20 -40% (recommend playing with to see what works better) would have added a textural dimension that would have made it 'fit' better into the scene. Lastly, I think this would have been a great opportunity to take advantage of the Expert Editing rule-set to erase the line on the skeleton's forehead so that it appears whole. |

Gourds Unite!by JoKeR1976Comment: Voted earlier coming back to comment.
Love the colors, shapes and the composition of this pumpkin patch. However, I feel it has potential to be even better. The lighting is a bit harsh in spots and the contrasts between highlights & shadows could be richer and deeper if you made some adjustments to shadows/midtones/highlights. |

...and then he said: "That was no gourd, that was my wife!" Hahahahah!!!by Yo_SpiffComment: Voted earlier coming back to comment.
What a fun and great composition! Love the two pumpkins that are 'talking' to one another. The laughing pumpkin on the left even seems to have laugh lines at the tip of his smile:-) Great colors and clarity. My only critique is I wish there was a greater DOF such that the house in the backdrop was a little more blurred. That way the pumpkins could stand out/pop even more. |
