thats not a trowel by GilesComment: Voted earlier coming back to comment.
Using a spoon is going to take a loooooonnnnngggg time to lay those bricks:-) Yup, you are doing it wrong. I think the picture would be better if you had better dynamic range in the B&W tones. The scene is mostly grey and lackluster with no strong highlights or shadows. Processing can help with that - don't just use straight greyscale because it generally doesn't yield strong shadows and highlights. Recommend trying Colorize Strength 0 Saturation 0 to start with. Then play with adjust shadows/midtones/highlights as well as curves and level adjustments. |

Mmmmm, warm ORANGE JUICE!!!! I don't think it would taste all that good hot but it might be a nice scent that permeates throughout the house:-) This shot has potential if you just got rid of the clutter so the focus can stay on the coffee pot, the cup and the coffee pitcher pouring juice into the cup. The composition would also be stronger if the whole pitcher was in the frame so that the orange color of the orange juice would be even more noticable. |

JACKSON POLLUCK - UR DOIN IT RONG!by pixelpigComment: Voted earlier coming back to comment.
Ummm, yeah, if you splattered your camera on a canvas to get this shot like what Jackson Pollock would do with paint then that's just wrong LOL. Or it could be a declaration of being dedicated to creating art. Not sure how well it is doing in this challenge but I am sure that this would be better accepted in an Abstract challenge. It is a very cool abstract piece with dynamic shapes and motion. |

Self Portraitby adigitalromanceComment: Voted earlier coming back to comment.
Lighting, editing, and composition are all top notch and spot on. One thing does throw me off a bit. It is that it is not so much as You Are Doing it Wrong' as opposed to the audience reaction of "Oh, now that is just wrong!!!" No question it is a surreal almost Dali like composition and it does really well on that creative note. Hmmmm, I guess it is the title that really does not fit the spirit of the picture - had it been something along the lines of 'Gary's Photoshop Skills Gives the Modeling Agencies Fits' it would combine the reaction of "You're doing it wrong" with "Now, that's just wrong!" |

I hope the boss doesn't see thisby NeatComment: Voted earlier coming back to comment.
Processing on the HDR/Topaz is a little too much for me. The composition might be better if it was scaled back a bit to give a more natural look, but that is just me. The picture has strong bones and looks like it captured alot of people having fun but the processing doesn't allow it to truly shine because the contrast between highlights and shadows is a bit overcooked. Without the title to give a clue I wouldn't know what was being done 'wrong'. It is always better to 'show don't tell'. The title tells us what to look for rather than the picture itself conveying the idea. Lastly, there are so many subjects in the shot who is it that is 'hiding' from there boss - it is just a sea of people with no one as a standout for 'you're doing it wrong'. If all the people were dressed in red and one was in another color, say black or green, it would be easy to spot who should be hiding. |

Eye Surgery: UR doin' it wrongby daevansComment: Voted earlier coming back to comment.
I had to look away the first time and the second time around is just as disturbing to view. Gratz, you gave me the heeby-jeebies twice :-) This would definitely be the wrong way of doing eye surgery....I can't get over the squeamish factor to give an critique on the composition. |

These just don't fit me anymore...by GAP2012Comment: Voted earlier coming back to comment.
Definitely fits the concept of "You're Doing it Wrong":-) Details and color are good. It's the composition that just needs that extra 'something' The focus needs to be on the shoes but it calls out for a facial expression of confusion. But to do that then it would be a far shot where the shoes might not be noticed. Hmmmm, I think that the other thing that CAN be done is the orientation....I think it is a little odd that the shoes are not facing front and forward so they 'meet' our gaze 'head on'. They lay on their side when a front presentation would be better. |

Pretty sure this is wrongby nygoldComment: Voted earlier coming back to comment.
Wow! If this is not staged then what a find! LOL, that is an either a creative way to make up for a lack of stove inside or lack of a backyard deck:-) But of course the concept of window cooking is just wrong:-) I think that this composition would have been a bit more visually appealing if it was cropped on the vertical to match and complement the orientation of the window and the barbeque. Also a closer crop so that the grill fills the main stage more. Lastly, the expert editing give the opportunity to get rid of the distracting power lines. Removing that distracting element would help to keep the focus more on your main subject. |

Fighting Cavitiesby giantmikeComment: Voted earlier coming back to comment.
I've heard about peppermint flavor toothpaste but this takes it to extreme:-) Definitely not the proper way to brush one's teeth but this is definitely a way to satisfy your sweet tooth and brush at the same time:-) Some of the highlights are blown such that I can barely see the outline of the candy cane in the white areas and the toothpaste tube. Perhaps having the light shine from behind as well as the front so that it would 'halo' around and outline the main elements better. That or see about closing down the aperture during exposure to let in a little less light to prevent blowing the whites/highlights. |

Teenage Study Habitsby vawendyComment: Voted earlier coming back to comment.
LOL, so true. Typical studying - in near dark and the book is upside down when the mind is so far away thinking about something else. As a Mom, I just want to turn on the lights and turn the book right side up, "There you go, now that's better." Of course if I was going to get silly to make a point I would turn on the light and inform him he needs to get upside down himself and have the book rightside up to read it properly:-)Oh, btw, you have good taste in books - we have that one too:-) |
