I like the look of this and the relatively tight crop; nicely composed. But beyond the technicals, I'm very moved by this; the expression on the girl's face: I read longing, sadness, a tiredness beyond what comes from a day out with mom. Combined with the stuff spread out, it really draws me in. I want to do something, to fix it, to give her a toy and her mom some piece of mind (it doesn't hurt that I have a two-year-old). This can, of course, be all wrong; but the image really touches me, and for me that's what it's all about.

Excellent. The image makes it seem to me that the shadow is more real than the man, and that it might turn around at any moment and start chasing him. Minimal, and incredibly effective, I love it.

Knowing when to press the shutter, and how to have the camera ready at that moment; you have a gift, that's for sure. Delightfully composed, wonderfully presented, great light and shadows complementing the multitude of interesting things to look at here, with a real feeling of motion throughout.

What a neat building, curved, juxtaposed with the people heading into the Staten Island Ferry building; excellent use of bright sun and shadows to add to the composition; even the sun spots work in your favor. The conversion here is really nice, with some nice excellent tones throughout. Excellent.

Awesome, excellent use of lighting to give a real emotive feel to this, and to isolate the person on the railing while not really personalizing him too much. Great lines and composition.

Another great shot, well composed; the outer edge burning/vignette is a tiny bit distracting for me (I keep wondering if something was on fire nearby), but the image is strong (I like the line of the building moving down from left to right).

The black and white, with the extra boost in contrast, is really impressive. I probably would have tried to underplay the light and search for the gradient (which is more apparent in the color version), but I'm glad you've presented it this way. It's very effective.

I like this as is (no cloning or changes needed for me); good choice for placement, with the gate just behind her so you don't even see the bottom part at first; those lines and the brightness on the right lead you right to her eyes. Nicely done.

Nice shot, excellent conversion for the subject matter, really gives you the feel of standing there and looking at it. Excellent composition for something that could so easily be poorly shot.
