Privateby xianartComment: This image has so many good parts to it; I love that you haven't centered the dock horizontally, but that it stops at the lower third vertically - such pleasant composition. One thing (just my opinion) that I do wish is that one garage door was not so bright, but the moon and the color of the sky is wonderful, and the border is a great touch. |

Howling At the Moonby yetiComment: Nice shot, I like the dark tree limbs against the dark sky; I've always had trouble when the moon is full and I want something other than it included in the shot (it's always too bright given whatever elswe I want - stars, tress, clouds). |

Retirementby RetroesqueComment: I like it! Interesting lighting, almost looks like the one is under a spotlight; but are you sure it's the retirement village and not the graveyard? :P |

Day 2by renegade1966Comment: I'm working on my b&w skills, too, Todd, it's what I used to shoot in film (almost exclusively unless I was doing snapshots), but I just can't get it right in digital. Anytime I try, I'm just not happy with the results. For this, I would have tried to pick up a bit more detail of the bricks; unless you look really closely, you almost can't see the lines (that may be a function of resizing, I haven't been doing this seriously in digital to know for sure), but I'm guessing the color version shows these quite clearly. This is one of my frustrations in going from color to b&w with desat (by channel mixer or another method). Anyway, that's one thing I may have tried. I like the shot, by the way! |

Day 2 - The Road To Nowhereby xXxscarletxXxComment: I love that you kept the road on the right side of the frame and avoided the temptation to center it in the frame. That very well may have worked, but most people (especially on DPC, it seems, in my short experience) center roads, and this gives a different perspective that I like a lot (sort of, standing by the road, rather than driving or walking on it). |

Day 1: Evening Rush Hourby jrdawsonComment: Interesting shot, and I love the choice to make it b&w as have so many other commenters; well set up and very interesting all around. |

Day 1 - Downtown San Antonioby SandyPComment: Nice image; I like high angles of cities to get the "whole picture" (puts a city, even a large one, more in context for me). I like the lighting on the building, too, works well and adds a bit of color. |

1-30.jpgby agrimaceComment: Nice b&w toned image -- I like toning, a bit too much, perhaps ;) but here it works well. I'm a bit distracted by the low branch in the foreground top that cuts into the top part of the house; lowering the angle just a tad may have put this above the house and pointed the viewer to the house. Just a thought! |
