2_Sombreros_208_1Pass_1.jpgby eschelarComment: This is wonderful, the soft focus, the grain, and the color all work to make this image great. It has a very olden days feel to it, great work. Suggestions I can offer? Maybe even up the vignette, get rid of the green(?) things in the middle foreground and the pink thing as well. They distract from the model. Maybe kick the brightness up just a bit to make it stand out more as well. Overall, this is a wonderful shot and something to be proud of. |

Had its day in the sunby SomeamateurComment: I think this photo did bad because there isn't much interest to it. It's a good photo with good focus and good exposure but it's just bland. I'm not sure how it could be improved but a start would be a different crop. |

Dead Tree in Lake Bonnieby SomeamateurComment: Great shot. The reflection, clarity, and symmetry are wonderful and all work well in this photo. Not much I can add for improvement here. Good job. |

Simple Relationshipsby SomeamateurComment: I really like this shot, it's a very simple yet well done wildlife photo. You captured these ducks in a very natural way. The focus is well done and the exposure is perfect. The only nitpick is the grass in the foreground that I personally would get rid of. Great job though, this is something you can be proud of. |

Buddhist noviceby pla2Comment: This is an extremely underrated shot, should have done much better in this challenge. Great moment to capture from a great place. This might have done better if you cropped in a little tighter and boosted the contrast to add some drama and interest to it. The colors are wonderful and the exposure is spot on. Great job. |

Melancholyby Jaded_HousewifeComment: Wow, the sharpness and clarity of this image is amazing. The catchlights and details in the eyes is also exceptional. I really like this one. The one improvement that I would do is move the hair out of her face but that's hardly something to complain about. Great work! |

Captain! Captain! We have landedby tetoComment: I agree with you that this is an underrated shot. I would expect it to score in the mid to high 5's for a couple reasons.
1.) It's not very sharp, was that your intention?
and 2.) The colors don't really pop out.
The lighting, moment, expression, and feeling of the image is excellent, just a few technicals are holding it back. Another thing is that piece of paper(?) on the bottom right distracts from everything else. This is a great concept that can go very far. Maybe try a little more post processing with it and see what you can get.

driven snowby briantammyComment: Ok, even though this is a post challenge comment, I'll comment it as I would during voting.
I really just don't think this fits the challenge. Yes, snow is pure but there just isn't enough of it to convey that message in this photo. Also, I don't think the sepia tone of this image works very well as it makes the snow look very dirty and not pure. |

The Flower Girlby breadfan35Comment: Wow, what a moment you caught here. I gave this shot a 6 because it isn't as sharp as it could be. I would try to stop down the lens a bit to increase the sharpness and apply some more post processing unsharp mask or smart sharpen to it. Great job and great capture. |

Guest Listby breadfan35Comment: I like this one, it's well composed. The only thing I can nit pick about is the DOF. It's kinda strangly placed on this one. The thing I would do is flip the book around so "guests" is closest to you and focus on that. Stop down the lens a bit to increase the DOF and have the names slowly fade out in the background. Maybe a little selective desat with a few props added on and it would be great. Just my thoughts, sorry for rambling. |
