Bistro (Bar)by joansuzyComment: Seems too cropped without enough resolution as a result.
The whites are overexposed to my taste
The composition might have been more pleasing if the pole would not have been so dominant in the view |

Post-Raceby wahsabiComment: Would have liked the bottle more in focus
The overexposed background in the left upper corner distracts me from the beverage |

Candle-Light Wineby ReallyColorBlindComment: I would have liked it more straightened, with a less wrinkled background and with more exposure on the wine glass instead of the candle |

Fisheye bubbleby DvosdonComment: This is unexpected but really terrific: a 6+ and top 10%(I feel the pressure mounting wondering how to keep this up in the future :-) ).
I was pleased with the bubble itself, but less so with the background and the reflection. There was no time left to shoot another one, so I submitted this picture hoping for a 5+.
Thank you all for the nice and helpful remarks and for the great scoring. |

8 Sandals in a rowby DvosdonComment: Thank you very much for all the advice and the scoring. I got a second 5+, which really means progress to me. I hope to keep it up and to improve.
I learned here that the title has a certain importance and that it should not be too complicated. I mentioned 8 sandals (which is correct) to emphasize the shallow DOF and make people wonder "are there really eight? ...". I was still playing with a wide aperture of F/1.4. |

Home made Ice Creamby DvosdonComment: Thank you all for your very helpfull and nice comments. I wish I could have shared some of this ice cream with you all.
Indeed the prime focus is on the bucket. I was just playing around with a diafragma of F/1.4 which is quite unforgiving. By the time I saw the picture on the screen, the ice cream was already all scooped away, and there was no second chance.
My first picture getting a score over 5, which was my short term goal. Although not a spectacular progress, I am quite happy there is progress. I guess I will have to invest a bit more time in the future trying to keep up this level or preferably to improve. |
