This is such a nice shot without the star. The exposure, focus and contrast are outstanding and the grass(?) is a nice subject. To me, the star just distracts from the rest of the (otherwise excellent) photo.

To me, the concept of "ice on ice" would really have been driven home if the ring, particularly the center stone, would have been as shiny as possible. There's condensation on the ring which, to me, is distracting.

What a cool subject (pun intended) but it looks like the composition is kind of haphazard. I'd love to have seen this shot cropped tightly on just on of the ice formations. It's a hard thing to do to isolate your subject but well worth the work.

I have to admit that I'm having a hard time with the context of this shot. That is, I certainly get the trees but the background makes it really hard for me to tell if I'm looking at a tree, shot at some strange angle, from above or if the background is just...well...odd.

It's a nice shot but without context (and it's certainly not abstract) it's hard for me to tell if I like it or not. I hope this makes sense.

Unlike most shots I see, B&W really helps this photo. I would be curious, though, to see it very desaturated so that the leaves were just barely colored...somewhat like the old watercolored bladk and whites. I'm not sure that would make this photo any better (it's already a really nice shot) but I'd be interested in how it worked.

Great shot...it's a pleasure judging it.
