composition is ok, as well as framing, but the lighting is horrible. contrast is almost nonexistent for the majority of the photo

Nice job on getting up close, but there really isn't anything interesting enough to keep my attention in the photo. I find it bland and without character.

The branch is out of focus. Silhouettes are nice in some photos, but not a macro.

The idea was probably good at first, and the positioning for the rule of thirds not bad, but the overall composition/color/detail of the photo is unimpressive.

I just can't see this in a macro competition, even if the title does include "close up". Aside from that fact, it is just not very interesting.

Not really close up, and the negative look is really bad. No detail anywhere. Too many areas "blown out".

Nothing too interesting about your photo. Also, there is not really much detail, either because of lighting or the camera was just a little out of focus. Can't tell.
