'BERT '09 by tfarrell23Comment: I did this in basic editing and still did not post my process! Many people asked me how I did it. It involved too many steps to post.

'BERT '09 by tfarrell23Comment: LOL...I would need to know more about "a little of this...a little of that" before I could tackle something like this....but I'll try. |

'BERT '09 by tfarrell23Comment: Very nice. The only way I could see this being done in Basic is with the use of the "highlights/shadows" tool. However, I could never get this nice effect throughout the photo with H/S only. I have to use the burn/dodge brush. I get sections of altered highlights and sections of altered shadows...it usually looks bad.
Clarify in PS Pro is also mentioned. Did you use PSP exclusivly for this shot?
If you don't mind, can you post your steps on this shot in DP or do a Youtube tutorial? Message edited by author 2009-04-22 11:08:44. |

Unfinished (Coloring the Canvas)by BrianRComment: Even if this was a "picture" in the background it would not "skirt" the line on existing artwork. The addition of the additional objects...hand, pencils...would have made this 100% legal.
Originally posted by Yo_Spiff: Definitely skirts the line on pre exisitng artwork. At least I assume it is. Might really be that scene in the background. I'm curious to see your notes on this. |

Being left outby snafflesComment: Would have been better if the "left out" girl was in BW and the rest of the photo was color....but I'm sure I'm not the first to tell you this! |

Sky Blueby delinComment: This is an EXCELLENT take on the challenge. In my opinion you were well within the rules.
So if there was a challege called "Blue Strip" and it was Advanced Rules....and I desaturated the sky except for one blue strip...I would get a DQ?
These types of judgement calls are one reason I haven't forked over another $25 to the site.

Binary; The Universal Language by Shutter-For-HireComment: See my comment 4 steps down and you'll see what I thought of the drop.
Originally posted by trnqlty: Excellent execution of the concept. To be honest though, I'm a bit disapointed to see a water drop shot at the top of a language competition. After all, why would water of all things be included in a shot with an ethernet cable. I know its cool but other than that it really doesn't make much sense. Not the first time I've felt like that. We've all got our water shots on this site, at least yours is way better than most. Congrats on the ribbon | Message edited by author 2009-04-02 20:12:26. |
