The Shared Umbrella by MelethiaComment: I love to see images like this on the front page. The black and white is a great way to add a bit of timelessness â€Â¦ Personally red and white umbrellas add too much nationalism or something for me and they look much better grey. The brain is fooled a bit using greyscale and it works well to remove unnecessary activators of brain synapses. |

Southern Discomfortby elizadebComment: This would be great if the guy was off-centered and the atmosphere were a bit more gritty which could be done in Advanced edit. I think the concentration on the jacket seems to not allow the environment to shine as it could. Offsetting it and allowing for more interest on the bar might help this IMO. 6 |

behind a seedby IreneMComment: This definitely is an image with potential to be on the front page of this web site. Given the subject and composition, it looks like it should all be pretty well sharp and focused - I think the lack of complete sharpness and not-extremely-interesting position of the subject hurt this - If it were more obvious that it was at a sharp angle and there was a great deal of depth-of-field, I think the result would be a winner - either that or if the entire thing had a bit more sharpness. Addtionally, the vignetted background and water drops are beautiful and I think just going for a slightly larger image without a border would have helped also- This is a tough one to score - let's go 7 for a great effort with some room for improvement. |
