I really like this. The vivid colors, the composition, and the texture of the wood....very nicely done.

Comment:
some of the wood areas seem over-exposed, almost as if a flash was used and caused areas to be too bright. May be corrected by use of the burn tool

** Greetings from the Critique Club **

First of all, good action shot that fits the challenge theme.
There are a few major problems though. First of all the colors are not very vivid - a boost in saturation can corerect this. Secondly, your white balance needed to be adjusted to compensate for the strong lighting you were under - namely direct overhead sunlight. Thirdly, the focus was off - leaving the image in it's entirety a bit soft.
I agree with some of yopur other commenters, the depth of field had it been more narrow would have blurred out the background people which are very distracting from the star of this shot.
As for the composition, very nice. Your image fits into the rule of thirds, and in my eye is cropped just right - not to close or too wide.

** Greetings from the Critique Club **

As stated in almost all other comments you received, including my own during voting, the image is sized too small for a fair evaluation. Size does matter here as larger reveals more detail.
Composition is an equally important factor. While the image does follow pretty close to the rule of thirds, it is cropped too tightly on the left. Perhaps this was to crop out the passing boat, that is what I would assume as I can see some break in the water along the left that would not be from your own boat.
Some comments you received mentioned the image appearing too dark. The water is perfect in my eye. Perhaps a little dodge tool on the skier herself would have made her stand out more.
Nice action shot, keep up the great shooting.

this looks to be a little over-sharpened. By shooting this macro, you leave me to think the deers fur is bristly like a porcupine - but on the contrary, it is soft. A close-up could have shown this without going to the extreme of macro. Sometimes macro causes the texture to seem harsher than it truly is.
