It was a good idea, but the angle of the shot makes the water droplets appear to be deformations. I had to look a few times to realize it was water

Focus is a little unclear. Could use some levels adjustments. Sorry to criticize. It's a good picture, but could use some post processing.

Problem area: I think the middle portion of the stick is the focal point. Unfortunately, that is where most of the harsh light it, so you eye kinda wants to look there, but then you want to look away.

Super shot! I agree with laurielblack - the contrast needs boosted. Try a levels adjustment layer, if you're using Photoshop, to make the water just a touch crisper and whiter. Just my opinion.
