Lights Outby geoffreyskuntzComment: To me although this is a photo of a lightbulb it does not convey darkness (either in itself, or in the emotion it provokes). Perhaps if the lamp were surrounded by darkness it would have more symbolic meaning. |

Darkness is an opportunity to explore Lightby virtualmeComment: I'm not sure what the object is in this photo. I think it may be more compelling if we could see what it is. Right now it just appears to be circles on a black background which does not really suggest darkness to me. I may be missing something, but it's nice to have a photo that makes a good strong connection to the challenge topic. |

Deadwoodby marvinComment: This photo did not really fit this challenge for me. All the lines of all the branches in the background are a little distracting. If the tree was really dead/burned it would be nice to have that be more apparent. |

PRELUDE TO DARKNESSby debaun38Comment: I would have liked to see what this image looked like when it was 640 pixels in width and more in focus. I think that would also improve viewers response to it. |

Lightning Crashesby sacredspiritComment: I do like the idea of using lightning, but the rest of this image is so grainy and the foreground is so dark that it creates problems. Maybe if you cropped the iamge right below the line between the trees and the sky it would be a more powerful image. |

Finding hidden treasuresby TitiaComment: I can't make out what I'm seeing in this photo, and for me that makes it difficult to understand how it is a reference to darkness. |

Flash!by CoozComment: I like this idea, but unfortunatley it does not translate to darkness for me. Yes the flash illuminates darkness, but there just isn't enough of a connection for me. I don't know how much you played with changing the darkness, but a darker image with more contrast might have added a nice touch. |

There's Even a Line to get in Down Thereby fifieldComment: This photo is in my top two for this challenge. What an eerie, creepy great interpretation of darkness. I don't know how you managed to get all the feet exposed the same amount and lined up almost exactly the same. I love the implication that there is a line to get into hell (at least that's how I read it). Excellent use of perspective, excellent idea. I would love to hear how this one was done. 10. |

Out of the darknessby helgikrComment: This photo is just magic. I'm adding it to my favorites and I hope it wins. I love that the pony on the left fades into darkness, the white pony is a great counterpoint. One seems to be moving toward the darkness, the other afraid of it. And if all that isn't great enough you have the skyline in the back with just the perfect hint of sunset. I'm a huge fan, good luck. 10. |

Kookyby moodvilleComment: This guy is hilarious. You captured him at the most comical/best moment. If I could vote it would be a 9. |
