Marina Windowsby StormCatComment: Originally posted by svstoltz: In part it's almost a cool geomeric abstract, but its also just the side of building. Details like the projecting roofline, and patio umbrella detract from the simple powerful forms |
while i agree that the umbrella is a bit distracting, the basic editing rules clearly state that cloning anything but bad pixels out is not allowed. as for the projecting roofline... i like it, but that's a matter of personal opinion. |

Marina Windowsby StormCatComment: Originally posted by deepfrog17: not enough reflection to make it significant element of your photo |
this entire photo is about reflection. picture it without the sky in the windows. it is the blue in the glass that draws the entire composition together. seems to me there's always at least one person who thinks they can find a reason why every photo doesn't fit the challenge. |

Sure Betby David1411Comment: i don't understand why this one didn't win. this is the perfect use of extra saturation and the composition is excellent, not to mention you've captured the concept of an Oxymoron perfectly. |

Malmuteby StormCatComment: Originally posted by posthumous: a gripping, immediate portrait. sometimes it's a boundary that allows us to get truly close. |
that is certainly true! in this case the fence ended just above his head and he let us pet him after the shot, but it def doesn't look that way in the photo! |

After the Rainby StormCatComment: Originally posted by PeterPic: Technichally the composition looks fair but I find the picture uninteresting. Also I would've used a greater DOP to get everything in focus - I don't particularly like the fact that only the middle band of the picture is in focus. |
i have to say that i disagree with your analysis of the photo. altho i can understand finding it uninteresting (personal preference is fine by me), i think the composition is just what it should be. the shallow DOF and narrow band of focus keep the eye from following the leading lines of the fence out of the frame. besides, this photo is about the drops on the fence. nothing else. the fact that the viewer must focus on one little aspect of the shot is meant to hold interest in the micro scale of the photo. |

can somebody please tell me how raindrops on a fence don't suggest rain? Message edited by author 2006-10-05 15:43:47. |

Sunday Morningby StormCatComment: Originally posted by irakly: is it really about pleasure? who is a recipient? |
yes. it really is about pleasure. to me there is nothing more than horses, but it's deeper than that. the serenity of a big open field and yearlings moving quietly over pasture as the sun rises. being the only one on the land. just you and the horses. the smell of fresh air. the rising sun. the warmth of the air and the dampness of the rising dew. |

Foal Closeupby StormCatComment: Originally posted by IreneM: Sorry, don't see the bits & pieces. Beautiful horse though. |
bits & pieces: just part of the horse... you can only see bits and pieces of him. |
