This is a problem that all surf photogs face.... sillouetting. This is what I do for extra money, and the best time of day to shoot is a dusk, using flash from the shore to get your key light, using the sun as a back light.

Color bland, lighting kind of toppy, b&w good, capture great, lines nice, can't see subject, overall a great attempt.

I have struggled with this pix and this is what I came up with.

I don't like seeing his back end, I want to see the emotion. Emotion tells a story, I can care less if he is throwing a net, I want to see his reaction to throwing the net.

Color excellent, capture good, b&w good, lighting excellent, dof good, texture good, overall a great attempt.

I know what you were after, but i want to see the whole thing, not the decapitated subject.

I've struggled with this, and this is what I have come up with.

This would of been a excellent capture if your subject wasn't decapitated.

B&W excellent, texture good, lighting great, capture good, lines good, overall good.

As a sport photog myself there are mainly two problems with this pix.

The fence line cuttimg your athlete at the neck, and the decapitation at the knees. You would never be able o sell this to a publisher.

Color good, lighting good, nice capture, Dof good, emotion good, B&W good. Nice idea. Overall just OK.

I know what you were after, but part of this shutter speed challenge is to have some crispness, at least, athe very least in your subjects eyes, or face, or some peice of your subject. This is WAY too blurry. Try to take more than one pix next time and experiment with your shutter.

nice red, comp needs work, blacks not there, whites not there, lighting??, texture??
