Forget Milk. Got Coke?by ChiquiComment: Great lighting and excellent exposure. The subject is pretty good and the pouring coke into the glass seals it. |

Liquid Reactionby davidbellComment: Very cool abstract. I love the way the balls are all different sizes at the bottom ranging from very small to quite large. Nice job with this one. |

Fizzzby AllenComment: Way too low res. Massive pixelation all over. This needs to just be taken a lot closer to say the least. THe composition isn't that strong either. I don't get the ruler thing at all. |

My Heart Is Bleedingby MonaComment: This isn't portrayed really well from this far back. In order for we dumb viewers to understand this photo, it should've been shot much closer or at least cropped closer. It's that or I'm missing the point completely which is entirely possible. Are we looking for the sap? |

Bubbling Mud Potsby BAMartinComment: The texture of the rocks and of the mud is really good. Honestly I think you should stuck with one mud hole or the other. I don't think both together work as they should. |

Where the Deer Roamby indigo997Comment: Greetings from the Critique Club

Ironically I just read your CC for the horse shot 5 seconds ago
I thought it would be an opportune time to sneak in one myself, and BAM! I get yours :)
Composition - Great. Should I elaborate? I think the way this is framed in by the trees makes this one something special. The colors are very nice. The tree down in front of the building makes it seem a little more reclusive than it really is. And then you put the deer into the picture. That is just the icing on an already tasty cake. The only gripe I have about this picture is that the deer is facing away. Maybe if you would've shouted his name he'd have turned around and looked up. Just a thought :P
Technical - The soft focus isn't hurting a thing. It isn't but a touch soft, and also it is a very natural picture (like nature natural). My opinion is that those things can effective be left a little soft most of the time. I don't think your ISO 200 hurt a thing either. There isn't a bunch of noise or grain or anything. I think you might even be able to get away with switching this to sepia or B&W and it still be very effective. The exposure is right on, and like i said in the composition part, the framing is outstanding.
Overall - A very good picture. Nice composition and well executed. Not a lot that you could change on this one, or would want to for that matter. Excellent work and good luck on your future submissions - Bob |

Barnby David EyComment: Greetings from the Critique Club

Composition - I like the angle from which this photo was taken. Its a little different than the norm. I really like the way the trees frame in the barn. I could do without the fence, but what can you do? Knocking it down for a few photos seems pretty unreasonable. I like the way the tree on the left has some continuity with the bush right under it, like it's reaching all the way down to the ground. Not a super compelling subject, but for what it is, I think you did a nice job composing this photo.
Technical - I really do not like the colors of this shot. This would be one that I would've made sepia and possibly even added a little grain to it so as to make it look very old. I believe the blue tones in this photo are the main reason it was not terribly well received by the voters. I think you threw them a fastball when they were expecting a curve and it stunned us. I'm not saying its not DUOtone, but it definitely one that caught me off guard.
Overall - I think besides the color issue, the photo is pretty good. Unfortunately the color issue is a very major one and cannot easily be overlooked by the voters, myself included. Best of luck to you in all your pursuits. - Bob |
