Nature`s Colorsby one66stangComment: Greetings from the Critique Club

Composition - Nice array of fruits with some good colors involved. The arrangement is good. The first 2 things I notice about this is the bottom left corner and top right corner are a little blank. You could've filled in these "holes" with some lighter colored fruit or cropped them out. I think the strawberries should definitely stay over top of the citrus fruits to provide some contrast. The one on the top right is almost invisible. Generally the composition is good.
Technique - I think this could've used a slightly slower shutter or a little more light. I guess I'm trying to say it could use a little more exposure. I don't think its "dark" but the colors would benefit from a little more exposure. The focus is great and there's no apparent problems with the DOF. If brightening this up a little didn't make the colors stand out a bit more, saturating them a little more with PS or equivalent would be another option. For that matter you could've brightened up the pic a bit with PS, but a little more exposure would've been preferred.
Overall - I like the photo but would like it better without the dead spots. The colors should really be jumping off the page to really maximize the visual impact of the piece and really grab the viewers. I really think the potential to this pic is here, it just needs a little kick in the pants to make people stop and really look at it. It's a good photo as is, but could really benefit from a little more exposure and color with a little tighter crop for good measure. Nice work and good luck in future challenges - Inspzil |

Where has Spring gone?by punkangelComment: Odd.... the snow is focused but the flowers are not. Who knew? I think this shot would've been much more effective at a higher aperture to focus all the vital elements of the photo. |

April Iceby hvacigarComment: Great shot. The key to these photos is the contrast and you definitely have it. Reminds me of my shot from the color challenge. Nice job |

Houston Skyby picnovice1Comment: Somthing is messed up with the cameral or its been color saturated too much because the sky is getting grainy. Nice silhouette photo. Reminds me of how my Oly C-3000 used to take sunset/sunrise photos. |

Composition - The background is too busy for this pic. Whatever the cat is sitting on is not terrible, but a little busy too with all the little shiny spots. The cat looks pretty upset if I do say so. You cut him off a bit on the right side. Cats are pretty good subjects for photos generally, but this one looks like you're shooting him with water and not a camera.
Technical - The focus is way off. It almost looks like some kind of effect was added to this image to make it that way. From what I can gather here, it looks like the pic was pretty blurry and you tried to sharpen it too many times or tried to make a very small picture pretty big. Its lost a substantial amount of resolution for any number of reasons or combinations of reasons. Not a very well taken photo and I know that camera will take good pics, I have one sitting right behind me.
Overall - I'm not surprised by the score at all here. Unfortunately there are just too many things messed up (or maybe distorted on purpose) to allow this to score very high. Hopefully the next picture will do you better. Good luck in future challenges - Inspzil |

Composition - One of my favorites this challenge although I don't think it was one of the best. I really think this was a great idea and I hope you will work on getting those lines out. Who could ask for anything more in a color challenge? Very good capture. Ironic it goes to the pepsi garage though.
Technical - This could be a little sharper, but I don't think it's a requirement. The exposure is perfect. Nice colors and framing to this too.
Overall - I really like the rainbow, its quite a catch. It just needs to be cleaned up a bit with the power lines mostly, but other items like the fence and the house and the trucks could be edited out... Okay maybe not THAT much stuff :) Cute pic and great capture. Good luck in future challenges - Inspzil |

Forty Five Miles Per Hourby lennierComment: Greetings from the Critique Club

Composition - There is some awesome color and texture to this shot. I'm still not sure where the sign fits in, but to each his own. I think sacrificing the sign in order to lose the wires at the bottom and the washed out part at the top is a fair trade. But that's just me. The grass is wonderful, like the fairways at Augusta. The hills have cool little bumps that make cool little shadows. The sky is a great shade of blue. Nice work.
Technical - Great color, exposure, use of available lighting. The shot is really crisp and clear. Really nice work.
Overall - I don't think I'm the only one wondering about the sign judging by the comments. I really don't think it needs it. There are some great colors and nice textures to this pic. I reminds me of the Teletubbies, if you know who they are. This is a nice pic with or without the sign in it but I think it allows for some more criticism as well. Good luck in future challenges - Inspzil |
