chairby GinaRothfelsComment: Very nice: essence of chair.
I'm trying to figure out the characteristics of all the different Lensbaby optics. This looks to me like what I get with the plastic optic: there is a sweet spot (back of the seat in your photo) but even the sweet spot is not very sharp. So is the Lensbaby 2.0 equivalent to the plastic optic?

Inside Outby RetroesqueComment: This has a very nice feel to it. For me, the focal point is the tree seen through the window rather than the door, so that is where I would have put the sweet spot. |

by RKTComment: You've captured a working man and put the emphasis on his working hands. Very nice!
I also tried studio lighting with the Lensbaby. I'm interested in hearing more about your experiences. I had trouble figuring out the exposure with strobes so I switched to hot lights for this one:

Keep Leftby RetroesqueComment: This has a very nice feel to it.
My first reaction was that the sign was rather ordinary and that the shot would be better with something more interesting in the sweet spot. But now I see that the point of the sign is that it says left rather than right. You drive on what much of the world considers the wrong side of the road.

Absolutely. The shadow is what makes this stand out. There is just enough detail in the shadow area to show that the bird does have room to fly. |

Floralby MelethiaComment: Very Nice!
I think this would be "ordinary" as a normal shot; the Lensbaby effect makes it very dynamic.

Local Call (Color)by GermaineComment: I found it a lot easier to tell what was going on in the color version. My first impression of the b&w was that there was another person with her(?) arm around the neck of the guy.
I like the closer crop and the circular flow around the guy in the color version.

IMG_9748_1-copyby skewsmeComment: Lovely. I get lots of very positive feelings from this image.
The Lensbaby effect does wonders for floral images. We've seen several in this thread that have much more emotional impact than they would as sharp "normal" images.

She's actually a kindred spirit of ours--that's a camera that she is carrying. It looked like a DSLR and she stopped a couple time to take close-up shots of blossoms. Message edited by author 2011-05-04 11:18:01. |
