Whimsy In Colorby birdyblueComment: I love the bright color palette. This is a cheery, happy, bright, upbeat, straighforward photo with nothing lurking beneath the surface. I can find nothing that connects it with the challenge. |

A new breedby RedOakComment: Definitely in the challenge. A little politically subversive, perhaps? The strong lighting is both its strong point and its weakness. It flatters the background; I love the curtain. But it both forces blown highlights in all the white materials and huge flat areas of blackness in the dark leather and clothing. Without these flaws, I think this could be a solid contender for a top spot. |

power lines 1by kidtetrisComment: What a great entry for the lines challenge! Or is this a political statement? |

NIGHT ACTIVITY OF THE FRIDGE MAGNETby DoylieComment: I think this is a very funny photo. Except possibly for a person pathologically obsessed with cheese, it is not surreal by the definition applied to the surrealism movement. But it's subversive, droll (or do I mean troll) and nicely photographed. |

Spectreby HrutsenComment: This is a lot closer to surrealism than most of the photos in this competition got. I like that a graveyard is the backdrop. And I notice that you've placed a brightly lit cross on one of the four 'power spots' of the photo to echo or balance the placement of the subject' s 'face.' I'm afraid that I find the extraeneous elements of the phot really distracting: the chain lin fence, the metal rail fece, and the two giant black stone obelisks sprouting from the phantasm's shoulder. Finally, this is such a cheery and brightly lit day that the whole 'phantasm' idea seems, IMO, ridiculous. |

bit bendby IceRockComment: It's a strong and lovely photo, but it seems completely unrelated to the challenge. |

Out for a Cruiseby biggood53Comment: Wow! I love the color and the texture in the photo. And I like the world turned upside down. I like how the vertical posts and horizontal rails squiggle in ways reminiscent of some in Dali paintings. While the photo does not exactly fit in the surrealistic straightjacket I've imposed on most photos, I actually like this enough to rate it well. |

Rene Magritte's "The Son of Man" Revisitedby drgsoellComment: I'm a bit surprised that I've not seen 22 entries like this; it's the 'obvious' knockoff choice. I've looked at much of the challenge so far and this is the first. So you get extra points for copying Magritte and going him one better by using a female as the model. |
