Old fort from 1897by angiedlComment: I like the textures and the repeating pattern of the doors. When it comes to photos that live or die on the quality of their textures - as I believe this one does - I tend to like things a little over-sharpened. It's a matter of taste, but too often an interesting texture will look a little too blurry when presented on screen with the same amount of texture as the real life subject |

Once upon a time....A man's castle was his home.by arminComment: Somehow, when you weren't looking someone dropped a herd of cows into your photo of the castle ruin. The same scoundrel appears to have blurred the castle, lightened it, reduced it to a turret and disguised it as a silo! A crenellated silo with two windows, but a silo nonetheless. Better luck next time. |

13 Eagle Ln.by ulydogComment: Somehow the negative space in this photo doesn't work for me. I think part of it is that everything is a little bit too dark. You might consider using curves or levels in Photoshop to make everything lighter: certainly the subject, probably the sky, possibly the grass. I see the subject is placed neatly on the rule of thirds. It's a safe choice, but I tend to think that it's a little small to fill that space. I'd have been tempted to move it toward the corner by cropping off the tree on the right and an equal amount of grass - but I tend to crop more closely than the DPC group as a whole.
I like the bare tree and its relation to the house, and I think if you'd have been able to get closer or to use a longer lens, a shot with just the house, the tree, and the grass would have been better. |

Shingles & Brushby Bear_MusicComment: It's a well exposed and it certainly meets the challenge, but there's nothing to grab onto. It's all texture and confusion. I don't know it there is some effect that might make the photo more interesting: oversharpen it so the texture is surrealisticallly sharp, or up the contrast so it is likewise too punchy. As it stands it strikes me as having nothing to grab my interest, and I am someone who oohs and aahhs over peeling paint. |

after the paradeby PollyBeanComment: I'm having trouble recognizing what sort of object this is, but I like the framing, all the swirly colors and the way it is lit. |

Eye "Q" by MatthewComment: Great shot. I'm imressed with the patience and the sense of play that led to getting the right shot. Thanks for explaining.
When I saw this shot I experienced a strong sense of deja vu . Anyone else who experienced the same might be trying to figure out why may wish to visit //www.dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=48814. Both images share many common strenghths. I find it instructive to compare the compositions and the techniques. |

LAby KylieComment: Occasionally, doing something really off-the-wall pays off big; this is one such case. Very nice. |
