Old Wooden Doorby drake217Comment: A lovely shot of a very attractive door. It's skillfully framed, nicely lit, perfectly exposed. |

Roped and Twinedby armelleComment: Beautiful. It was an inspired choice to give us a clue in blurry form what it is we are looking at. |

Wooden Doors and Ladderby dsa157Comment: There are some wonderful things about this photo. Technically it is flawless. The stucco and the textures of the two doors and ladder are all quite beautiful. The items hanging from the ladder are beautiful also. And the blue folded tarps contrast and balance the aqua door nicely. The plates on the wall, IMO, ruin a good photo. They start a new and very different story, one that relates to the hanging food. And those of us who are easily attracted by food, by stories of food, or even photos of plates depicting food, will find ourselves wandering right out of the picture. To us, the subject is not in the photo at all. Sometimes that's the effect one wants, but I don't think this is one of them. Still, I like the shot. |

Study in wood and leatherby bpickardComment: Great textures and great color palette. I love the light and the way the steps curve away into darkness. It strikes me as an inspired choice to place the subject so near the edge of the photo. |

'Beyond Boarders'by CalliopeKelComment: The composition and framing are inspired; the lighting is exquisite; the very deep DOF is perfect. Super |

landscapeby arlanbartComment: This is a very beautiful bit of wood - great choice of subject. I would have liked to see a litle more of it in focus - especially the highlights.

Six Stringsby roadrunnerComment: Nice treatment of a stringed instrument. I like the tension caused by the fact that the two opposite corners of the photo are in focus, but somehow, without a sweet spot somehwere nearer the middle of the photo to rest ones eyes, it's like a chord progression that does not resolve in a way we are used to. |

Shadows on the viewdeckby burtctComment: The checkered pattern is very nice. I also like the hazy light. It seems to me that the mountain somehow upstages the subject. And because it is a little our of focus, it kind of trashes the shot. There are two cropping treatments that would fix this problem ( not sure if they result in a better photo ) a) cut off everything above the top of the railing b) cut off everything to the right of the first corner post. |
