In The Garden of Edenby njsabsComment: you found quite the eva for that job! really love the left one! the right one is good too but feels a little too posed imo. they'd both stand on their own so i'm not sure if like them in a diptych, they seems to compete too much somehow... |

by MephistoComment: Originally posted by citymars: I hope you are careful when shooting in an abandoned building! |
This location is actually quite safe to visit, there's no security, not even a fence you have to climb to get in, the buildings are mostly stable and the rooms brightly lit (except for this one...lol). It's become quite a "tourist" spot for photographers or people who call themselves urban explorers so you'll always step into someone when you're there.
However there are abandoned sites (and especially the trespassing ones) that are quite dangerous due to rotten flooring, unstable architecture, asbestos or goofy people you don't wish to meet in such a location...;)
Not to mention the risk of being caught by some security when you're trespassing.
I usually wear hiking boots for precaution and carry a strong maglite, a mobile and pepper spray (just in case) along with my camera and an open eye for holes in or glass/nails on the floor.
Thanks for all the nice comments everyone! |

state of mindby MephistoComment: thanks! As i stated in the details field this was shot on 35mm film, so processing only included inverting, cropping (and arranging the 3 pieces so they'd align nicely with the "film border"), bumping up the contrast a bit and cleaning up some dust. Lighting came from a single strobe with a 120 by 30cm softbox attached from directly above if i remember correctly...
these were actually just experiments to test if the wireless system goes together with my strobe and the analog cam, but when i saw the negatives afterwards i thought they'd make a nice series. |

Deserted cityby ELLIPSComment: nice optical illusion. would have been even more convincing if you had the black fountain thingy and the edge of the house perfectly aligned.
and that bird takes the cake!
lovely natural editing as always, well done! |
