Five Circles by arnitComment: Thanks for all the comments. I cutted out holes in a black cardboard and placed it on top of my softbox. Used another light to light up the face a little bit.
I was a bit surpriced when I found out I finished third. Thanks again for all of those great comments :) |

Sunday Night Call by arnitComment: Thanks for all the great comments. Got some "It's not realy late night". Some people probably just thought the pictures should be taken at night. I took this late night. Took it around 23:15 or something like that. And it matters if you take the picture in Iceland where the sun sets much later than in souther parts of the world :)
I would have liked to clean out the sensor dirt on the left like some of you pointed out. But being a open challenge that is not allowed.
Here is a cleaner version of the shot. I would like to have submitted it like this:

It seems a bit to busy and I think the focus is kinda strange. Not sure if it is the focus or the camera moved when you took it. Taking shots like this it is good to lower your iso speed down to 100. I would focused maby on one of the jewelry. And I'm not sure about the background if it is part of the jewlery or not. And I would like to see a bit more space at the top of the picture. Bothers me that it cropes the jewelry.
Good luck in future challanges. |

This is a clean and well lit picture. There is something under the watch. Not sure what it is but I can't take my eyes off it :) And I would like to see the edge of the watch cleaned. Overall this picture is very good. Weel executed studio shot.
Good luck in future challenges :) |

Butterflyby FyzarlComment: Critique Club:
What a great shot. It is like the butterfly is actually flying. In shots like this one it is very important having the focus spot on and you did that. Perfect focus and the DOF is spot on as well. I like how the left part of the picture is slightly lighter than the right. It seems the butterfly is looking towards something bright. I can't believe it didn't score higher than 5.58
p.s. Loved your "Heaven" entry in the Ansel Adam challange.
Good luck in future challanges. |

Explorations in Backlightingby Rook3000Comment: Critique Club:
What a beautiful flower. I think it is a bit crowded at the top. Maby a close crop would have better. Or if you would have cloned out some parts of the flower in the top of the image.
Keep on trying. I see potential in you. Good idea using a window as backlight.
Good luck in future challenges. |

First thing I want to say is Great Lighting!. The light falling on the water in the foreground is amazing. And the moment you caught is excellent! The only thing I'm thinking about that could be better is to see more of the sky. Not sure if I'm right or not. And if you could have placed a person on that rock. Man ohhhhh... man this shot would be perfect.
A good shot overall and good luck in future challenges. |

The quality of the picture is not that great. It's only 40kb and it can be 150kb. Because the picture is good and the dog looks great it is a shame that the picture is so low in quality. I would like to see a bit more contrast. The dogs face could be lighter and the background a bit darker. When I first opened it it made me smile. That is always good.
Good luck in future competition. And please take more picture of that lovely dog and post them on dpc. And if you have the time send me a message so I can take a look. |

I like it that you are trying a different view on flowershots. Much more interesting than just a close up of an flowe. I think the flowers out of focus in the foreground is so light it draws my attention to it. I would try to dodge the flower in the center of the picture. So the attention would go straight to that. And maby darkening the flowers in the foreground.
Good job and good luck in future challenges. |
