I like the detail you've captured and the background color makes the nest jump at you. I lose focus on the yellow jackets though, and not sure if it's because of the battle of lines with the background wood grain.

I like the concept.
I find the large connector to be a bit overwhelming to the eye. Perhaps cropping that in half and allowing more of the background joints to tell the story. This is only in my opinion however.

The lone person in the shot is a bit distracting for my eye but i love the overall shot. Full of texture and nice dof.

Nice texture and color contrasts.
I may have chose not to show so much of the lighter pathway at the bottom of capture though. It almost turns my eye away from the photo, showing me so much. Not sure if that makes sense, but its only in my opinion.
I still like the colors and textures.

The angle gives it a very nice dof as well.
