What is that line in the middle? Bad layer blending in photoshop?

Perhaps a much closer shot where the tattoo and only part of the thong are visible would have been better?

Nice use of contrasting somber greens and bright red. That said, flags are kind of cliché and that can sap a decent image of a lot of its power.

Very funny, but I don't think the selective desat works here.

You're missing a lot of the upper tonal range in this image. Some of your highlights look like they might almost be in zone 6.

Careful with lens flares. They can be a very distracting element in an image.

Heck no it isn't time to upgrade. Serious Kudos to the man. I got to take pictures with a 4x5 Roleiflex for my photo class. SO much fun.

Be careful with centered compositions. You need to generate tension in an image and a centrally placed subject does not do this. A really solid bright and solid primary color in the background would have done this, but the foliage is unengaging.

I like the image a lot, but here are my suggestions:

Step back from the wall a little so that it gets blurred into a plain, pure white background. The I think the flat lighting is interesting, but I'd be curious to see it with dynamic side lighting--particularly if the sword were to be a physical divider between the lit and shaded sides of the mask. Because of this, it is important to keep the sword exactly vertical. Vertical lines imply potential energy which is what this piece is about. Potential, implied violence.
