| 09/13/2002 09:53:00 AM | Okra, Okraby BukiosComment: this is my favorite shot this challenge. i love the perspective, the depth of field, the soft yet vibrant colors, and all that great looking negative space. just a great composition. one of the few 10s i give on this site. |

| 09/13/2002 10:51:00 AM | Forbidden Fruit by jmsetzlerComment: this is a pretty good shot, john. honestly, i don't find the crop to be all that interesting. i feel like i'd rather see more of the legs and the curves that those would present. i also like the edit you posted on photosig with the black and white body and the red apple. overall, a decent shot. i think you could expand on this subject more. as always, it's very well lit. good work. - mci |
| 09/13/2002 10:53:00 AM | My Idea Of Cooking Veggiesby CLarson557Comment: the subject matter here is rather uninteresting, and it's also out of focus. a shot like this might also benefit from a straight on view with good strong 90 degree angles. it would help accentuate the repeating pattern of the cans. |
| 09/13/2002 10:57:00 AM | Lemon slices and .....an ant!by JeanComment: this is a really cool effect. my only gripes are the dusty surface and the ant. seems like it would have more impact if you really wiped the surface clean before taking the shot. also, parts of it seem a tad underexposed, but i realize it would be tough to keep those white cloud highlights from getting overexposed. might have benefited from a weak neutral density or polorizing filter. overall, good work. |
| 09/13/2002 10:58:00 AM | Kiwi by NitenComment: a very nice abstract. very nicely lit. my only gripe would be to try to get a slightly tighter crop, so you get rid of the 3 corners of the photo which clearly show the edge of the fruit. it detracts a bit from the overall feeling of the shot. i wouldn't worry too much about cutting off some of the tops of the seeds. good work. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 09/13/2002 10:01:00 AM | Banana Warpby buktotruthComment: very interesting effect. i like it a lot. not sure if i'd rather see it straight up and down instead of on an angle, but it might help. also, the whole shot seems kind of soft and fuzzy. it might have helped to use just a little more light, so that you don't lose the effect but the main focused banana gets a little more focused and little brighter in color. overall, i dig it. 7. |
| 09/13/2002 10:41:00 AM | Appleby mrbillComment: nice attempt, but it's just too dark. and the label is the main focus, which isn't very interesting. i'm also not a big fan of "negative space" style shots that place the subject near the top. it makes me feel like the top of the picture is missing, since the subject is "pointing" up, not down. (this placement works when the subject seems to be pointing down). a good effort, but definitely needs more light. |
| 09/13/2002 10:55:00 AM | Wild Berriesby jimmspComment: this is really nice. the color of those berries is mesmerizing. great depth of field and positioning. for some reason, it doesn't quite grab me as much as some of my other favorites this week, but it's right up there with them. i think i tend to lean toward the more arty shots in general, which is why this more natural shot doesn't grab me as much. but i still really like it. good work. |
