Childhood Spent Locked in Closet, Rays of Hopeby paganiniComment: I find this very evocative. Because I first looked at the photo without looking at the title, I found something in this that did speak to me of my own childhood, even though it was so far from the experiences originally intended to be conveyed - I remembered those evenings when I'd been put to bed, but could hear interesting grown up chatter coming from downstairs - the TV or guests with my parents - and I crept to my door, where the light seeped in, and wondered whether I should go down and interrupt or should try and go to sleep? When I read the title, I realised the intention behind it, and felt very sad. It wasn't too much of an extrapolation to understand and even visualise the kind of childhood this actually represents. Even where the "message" of a photograph may seem limited in terms of audience understanding, there may by other messages it whispers also. 6, Kavey |

Zack's Special Dayby GolferDDSComment: Like the idea and low viewpoint and the candles have come out well. The background and right hand side are too dark and the tablecloth in the foreground. Kavey |

Open Doorby tornseamzComment: Nice idea of light coming through the door - makes me think of going out to play. Could do without blue bin at bottom left. Kavey |

Christmas for childrenby submanComment: I like the idea for this, but I think the main cuddly character blocks out too much of the picture. Because the light source is on the other side from him, he is too dark. The fairy lights have come out really well though - I have tried many times to take pics of the decorated tree, with the fairly lights, and had atrocious results. Mostly because the automatic light meter can't cope and I am too scared/ lacking in expertise to go for manual settings. Kind Regards Kavey |

the spirit of a smileby jamiraComment: Although I think I understand - that your memories or ideas of childhood are of faces smiling at you - for me smiling faces are not something which really say childhood to me, because they are equally a part of my adulthood. Of course, that's all about personal perspective and experience and personal interpretation. Nice angle and composition and good colour to the water. Shame about dark object to top left. Kavey |

Protective Motherby TomNTexasComment: Sweet. Feels tilted, and is slightly out of focus. Would like to see their feet, or even the grass where their feet are... Kavey |

I get the window!by lynnesiteComment: This is great, but I like it better without the window at the top. Perhaps crop at top and also at left. 6, Kavey |

No One's Here to Playby briansuhComment: I really like the way the greenery and the white park edging frame this shot with a sweeping curve across the foreground. The angle and colours are appealing. 5, Kavey |

...by prodigal havocComment: Because the poles of the frame seem to be at odd angles I find myself focussing on them instead of the swing. When I look at the swing I like the wonderful texture. But then my attention is dragged back to the poles - they are definitely distracting for me. Would love to see a closeup of the swing seat with just a little chain, grass as the background, and nothing else in it. Kavey |
