mamaby ErinMComment: My all-time, all-species favourite creature is the goat. The noble Capra. Intelligent, clean, astonishingly clever, loyal, provider of great cheese and wonderful (almost magical) fiber, and on top of all that they will happily eat almost anything.
If goats could talk (and I'm pretty sure they can ... they just choose to keep their own counsel) I am quite sure they would say, "Why are you humans so damn sentimental about dolphins? We are the smartest and most endearing animals! We just prefer to not demean ourselves by leaping through hoops and tail-walking backwards just for a few lousy fish." |

Morning Serviceby GermaineComment: That is very cool! All our old churches are reborn as new churches. No imagination, us. |

Rush of the River (5 of 31)by Ecce_SignumComment: Originally posted by pawdrix: You're drawing out some nice colors with that LB. |
He's right; you are (we won't mention that they are colours in England, and not those poor relations, colors).
We tend to think that selective focus is what LB's all about, but what it does to colours is also pretty damn interesting. |

soupby krnodilComment: I prefer to think that you have flipped this image horizontally, in order to merely simulate left-handedness.
I have the same speed-peeler as you ... they work great, don't they? But you have a lot more utensils than me; I am suffering utensil envy now.
I love looking at cooking pictures, because I love to cook. And you're right; the LB seems right at home in the kitchen! I therefore reciprocate with this admittedly clinical study of my own kitchen:

one good ladyby jmritzComment: This is the one for me ... Best in Challenge. For the simple reason that it is about being elderly, and not just a sentimental picture of an elderly person. Surrounded by family photographs, but alone. Sustained by a bewildering arsenal of drugs. Too much furniture in too small a space. Too many mementos, but each too precious to throw away (or even to put away, in the hope that the person involved might call by). Warmed by an embroidered granny blanket on a solo chair. So much of life; so little left. Plus she's lovely ... once pretty, still elegant and serene, and still who she was. And so I must award you the Order of the Thumb:

Final Impressionby pointandshootComment: This is a beautiful, sophisticated photograph. It is many-textured, both literally and figuratively, and so there's a fresh reward for every additional minute spent looking at it. I'm up to about 12 nearly 15 minutes in total with it so far, and it hasn't run out of gas yet. So I must award it the Order of the Thumb:

by aznymComment: Weirdly distorted. Weirdly composed. Weirdly illuminated. Weirdly shadowed. I love that kind of stuff. |
