Patoisby RKTComment: I wish I did not immediately recognise who this work is by, so that I could comment objectively. But this sure sense of style, this technique, and this wit ('Patois') can surely have only one author here. So I recuse myself from voting on it. And my more detailed comments will have to go without saying. |

Avalonby bstansfieldComment: I wish this wasn't going to finish as far down as it will, only because I'd like more people to look at it properly. It's a much more worthy photograph than it appears at first glance. Alas, that's all the glances it will get from most voters ... 'too small'; 'too blurry'; 'distracting'; 'poor composition'; 'too distorted' ... yada yada yada.
None of that carping is relevant to this quirky and very fine, enjoyable photograph. 9. |

Cooperation by jeroweComment: This is a classically good photograph. Classical because it really could (setting aside the clothing) be from anytime from the late 19th century to the early 21st ΓΆ€“ and hopefully someone will still be doing this in another 100 years.
It's technically good ... sometimes that matters, and this is such a time. It's natural, and doesn't look like the product of some tacky 'action' in digital post-processing. It's humanistic, without being sentimental. It's witty, without being heavily-laboured. There are a lot of renowned photographers, even in places like this, that would be pleased to have this in their portfolio. I'd sure be pleased to have it in mine, but the best I can do is to add it to my favorites and award it the Order of the Thumb:

Divisionsby TezComment: I've looked at this several times, and for quite an extended few moments each time. I can't quite decide if it's naturally-lying rocks and fog (which I'd love), or a breakwater made of rocks with water vaporized by an extended exposure (which I'd tolerate). Alas, I think it may be the latter, but that doesn't stop it from being really very beautiful. |

fitting inby posthumousComment: Such a startling sight, snugged in alongside all this savage geometry. There even appears (as your title suggests) to be a cutout for the nose. Many will be sentimental about this, but the animal is in quite good condition; just cold. It's a good and unusual photograph. |

Skateby MelethiaComment: Yes. Some people can do this accidentally, and get away with it (of course, most of them would throw it away).
But you did it deliberately. And luckily for us, you didn't throw it away. And it's very good. |

Last Timeby jaysonmcComment: The near echo of the body positions of these two somehow elevates this superficially humdrum landscape into something else. It's like a painting by a painter whose name I can't remember at the moment. But he's very good. Or she is.
The odd composition, where everything is shoved to the margins, is strangely effective as well.
It's a bit 'glowing', here and there, but I don't care about that. I like this a lot. |

Debrisby simplesilentComment: This is weirdly compelling. He appears to be dancing in the dust. Makes no sense, and all the better for that too. Very nice, entertaining photograph. |

Liquefyby Blue MoonComment: I wish all DPC insect shots were this good! No, I suppose I don't because then I might not enjoy this one as much as I do. Great title, BTW. |
