Tin Soldiersby LeighroyComment: That would be my first thought also (Tin Soldiers). Very good eye to see this one. Looks like a military installtion somewhere. So cool how they seem to go on forever - nice vanishing point! I think the composition is fine - wonder what it would look like to take enough off the top to lose the bg trees, of course then you'd have to pinch the right a little. Hmmm...nothing like armchair quarterbacking is there? ;^)
I'm going to hazard a guess for the fun of it ... Toddhead?
Edit to add post-result comments:
Oops! Wrong guess. ;^)
Thought this should have placed higher. Oh well - on to the next one eh?. Message edited by author 2005-10-19 08:27:22. |

Spirit of Brooklynby charmayneComment: Nice image. I like the feel and composition of this. Simple coloration and perfect subject for this wonderful silhouette.
Was there something done in post-processing that would cause some shadows around the boys? I'm seeing ghostly outlines... No matter.
Oops! I just read your comments...congrats on winning the photo contest with this. Well deserved.
Smile and keep having fun! ;^) |

breeze.jpgby MAKComment: It makes me wonder what's on the other side. I want to peer over the tops of the plumes! So, in a way, this is an effective shot as it's gained my interest and evoked an emotion.
I understand what you've done with the composition using the ROT, but perhaps you could change the ratio to 2/3 sky 1/3 grass? If there is anything worth seeing on the other side, maybe a different angle would work here to include a more expansive view. I think a good DOF and wider vista is going to work better for the wide angle view.
Anyway, I like this shot overall. Good eye to see it. ;^) |

"The Proud Executioner"by keithborgComment: This guy is so popular he was worthy of being entered in two challenges. That's pretty cool. 'The Executioners Ghost' in Personification and this one.
As far as meeting the challenge this one fits much better. Good luck in the challenge. |

THE EXECUTIONERS' GHOSTby POLOComment: This guy is so popular he was worthy of being entered in two challenges. That's pretty cool. 'The Proud Executioner' in Pride and this one.
As far as meeting the challenge the Pride one fits much better. Not getting any connection for Personification. Sorry. Good luck in the challenge. |

Commitment to the Confederacyby popdeepopComment: Overall I like the feel of this image. B/W was a good choice. It's a shame about the powerlines. ;^( Wonder how this might have looked in a full silhouette? The rider is already pretty dark. Just a thought. Good luck in the challenge. |

Undying Love IIby RikkiComment: Wow! If that's natural color that is amazing! Wonderful golden glow. Nice positioning and negative space for the swans in your composition. The exposure (tough backlighting condition) is ok, close to hot on the white feathers. Considering the entire feel of the photo the exposure works just fine actually (I would delete my prior comment, but figured that thought was worth something anyway). ;^)
I enjoyed it - nice shot! Take care. |

Peek-a-booby NeuferlandComment: That kitten looks ready to POUNCE! ;^) They are so much fun when little like that.
Nice choice of select desat on this - the blue eyes jump out at you. I also like the composition having the cat in the top quarter of the image. If I was to make any suggestions it would be perhaps the contrast could be bumped up just a bit.
Great job on seeing and capturing this photo opportunity!
