This almost looks like it was shot with a glass front or something. The photo isn't quite clear. Little soft (not well focused) and could use a boost of contrast to give it more depth/clarity. Use of a tripod would eliminate the camera shake (with camera timer used). Subject matter, well, that's personal preference - I'm familiar with a couple of those book titles but religious themes don't always go over too well with voters at DPC. Nothing wrong in spreading the Word, but be prepared for some potential backlash. The primary subject for this challenge is Woody. In your shot Woody is nearly a secondary subject. JMO of course. Best of luck to you in the challenge.

This is clever. Not sure how you could have gotten the TV screen to be clearer. Pretty sure you needed a slower shutter speed to avoid getting the horizontal bars - with an action scene on the screen you then get blurry output. Perhaps if you had used a movie and paused it? Just a thought. Good luck in the challenge.

Clever use of mirrors like that. I like the leading line effect and the creative wall and "ground" you've put together. Seems a little grainy, but not terrible. Good use of a full 640 x 640. Good luck in the challenge.

When the Boat Comes in

When the Boat Comes in

I'm not catching the meaning of your title. There's a beautiful boat (well documented one too I might add ) in the background already. Yet Woody is sitting at an empty tie-down cleat. Did you want us to enjoy the boat in the background (that's the first object the eye is directed to)? Woody seems like a secondary subject. Another unfortunate item is the color of the tie-down cleat matches Woody and keeps Woody from standing out. Sorry if I'm being a pain in the tail...just my opinion. Good luck in the challenge.

Sorry, but the choice of tones here really makes the image kind of flat and bland looking. It's one of the cooler looking "Woody's" in the challenge because of the uniqueness, but you haven't brought that out in this photo. This shot reminds me of a photo that should be used in a book that documents the history of "Woody's". Very static. Nothing that gives this any artistic flavor. Just giving my opinion...that's all. Good luck in the challenge.

The Evolution of Woody

I like the concept, but the clothespin just seems out of place as the second "evolution" step (too short). The lighting overall is fine and the choice of using a black background does a nice job of isolating the subjects. Best of luck to you in the challenge.

This is unique and creative. I think the lighting in two places is going to pull this down some. The light is a little harsh on Woody with the resulting glare (diffusing the light would help). The "model" in back could use more lighting period. If you wanted to minimize the "model" it may have worked better to minimize using a shallower DOF and blur him out some - but get some light back there. :) All of this is JMO of course. Good luck in the challenge.

Too funny. Took some work also I'd imagine to put that "face" together. Looks good overall, not seeing much I'd want to "fix". ;^) You'd probably sell a few of this as a stock photo. Best of luck to you in the challenge.

Following up from comments you left regarding this image in an outtake thread...

Sometimes a centered composition works just fine, as it does in this case. The colors are wonderful. The ripples give a sense of motion and anticipation. Only possible negative for me is it may be oversharpened. Very nice image IMO. :-)

He-he. Funny one. Not sure I like the B/W tones for this. I take it you were trying to mute it some - did you try some selective desat instead - play with the colors a little? As a B/W the range is limited and a bit flat. JMO of course. Good luck in the challenge.
